Approx what BMI would waist size stabilize?

Recommended Posts

Trying to figure out what my waist size will be for the winter. I've gone from a jeans 56 slowing to a 42 (Duluth Trading). 6'1, 265. Lost 130lb so far. I fit a Duluth Trading 42, but use Large sized underwear from Duluth, and K-Mart dept store brands. I can get a 40 to be about an inch from forcing it to close, just can't fit into a 40 yet. But, something that might come about in a couple months? I am still averaging 3+ lbs a week loosing, but stalls are more pronounced.

What size is a piece of string?

No one can predict this because everyone is different. Also whatever shape you are now you will be the same type of shape but smaller . I'm an apple - when I lost weight I was a smaller apple but still an apple. So it all depends where you retain your weight

I would guess one inch loss in your waist is attainable in two months to three months though.

Sounds like you should just wear a belt and when the timing seems right, drop a couple sizes.

Check out venturibelt.com Kickstarted them a while ago, honestly one of the best belts I've ever owned.

To amswer your question, I think this is a bit different for everyone, but somewhere around 25 to 30 BMI your waist size should stabilize. I'm at 27 now, and my waist settled at a 34W around 30 or 31 BMI.

I am a 34 right now but my jeans and pants are getting big on me. I might have to try 32's. One thing I noticed is that jeans, khakis, dress pants all fit differently. I am a 34 with one, and some a 36 and vice versa. The madness of constantly having to buy new clothes is crazy.

I haven't lost any weight since July, but I'm still losing inches off my waist, so I wouldn't go by BMI.

I've also noticed that I'm a size 38 in Lucky jeans, a size 40 in Wrangler cargo pants, a size 42 in Old Navy cargo short, etc., etc. I don't know if this was the case prior to surgery, or if I just didn't care.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
