December 2018 Sleevers!

Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve 12/11 and my surgeon said no alcohol for six months and honestly I can’t imagine even trying alcohol so soon after surgery. I am down 30 lbs and I don’t want to mess up my momentum.
Jelena, I'm in the SAME BOAT AS U with the alcohol, I wouldn't dare try to drink ANYTHING! It seems the things that I have tried that are NOT whew truly on my liquid schedule had kicked me in the buttocks sooo, I'll wait and boy when I get that 1st glass of wine, I will gladly dance and sing with it lol. I'm trying to get more ideas of what a chick can tolerate next stage of full liquids shoooted. December 20th sleever here. 20lbs down, still liquids, and soft mushy things now.

I had surgery the 20 th, doc said also dont step on scale for the first week because they filled me with IV fluids and still really bloated . But I walked as much as I could religiously and by the time I got on the scale (6 days after surgery ) I was down 4 lbs . I am post op day 9 and down 12lbs . Pretty steady 2 lbs loss a day but I am being letter perfect . 3 Protein Drinks a day , and a little plain yogurt /cottage cheese mixture . Just added in a Protein Soup and sugar free popsicle . Walking 10k steps , or around 4.5 miles . Getting 64 oz of Water . Will do this till next Thursday purée stage, but will keep calories under 800 and protein 60-100g. Seems to work
Lolo you have encouraged me to step up my 1 mile marker/day[emoji38] Thank you[emoji106]

I am just transitioning to purée this week , will try eggs as well . Have been mostly still doing liquids , with a little cottage cheese mixed into greek yogurt. Am going to try tuna with yogurt today and. Also did the ricotta bake recipe and that went down ok , but need to eat super slow . I think we can do refried Beans with shredded cheese so may try that and will try the turkey chili recipe . Bariastic app has great recipes !

I was sleeved December 19. I have lost 21 pounds since I started the liquid diet before surgery. I am starting my soft diet tomorrow, and I am kinda worried. I don’t want to over eat, and I’m afraid that will happen. Has anyone found different meal plans for us sleevers yet? I would like to find different plans to help this soft diet along.

Mak up Meals and freeze , you will not over eat in the event you do it will come back up .

Had surgery 12/11 and had my follow-up with surgeon on Monday 12/31 when she cleared me to eat soft mushy foods for two weeks. Had some salmon and some scrambled eggs so far. Little scary to start eating food again even though I'm tired of liquids. But excited when resuming normal food again in two weeks although I'm going to be cautious at first.

Down 15 lbs and 15 inches in 21 days so far.

How many pills a day is everyone taking? I am a person who went from taking 2-3 pills a day, to 8 pills a day. This has been a weird transition for me. Anyone else weirded out by this?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
