I believe it's ricotta, marinara, cheese, an egg, and Italian spices. Mix it all and bake it. Sounds amazing. I can't wait until I am on purees [emoji23] I miss food.
You can also make chicken/ tuna salad, hard boiled eggs chicken or tuna and mayo
Cottage cheese and fruit of choice
Meatballs marinara and cheese
Chicken, Frank's wing sauce, blue cheese dressing.

These are just a few ideas I've seen [emoji4]

@irish_sleever. I know how you feel. I didn’t want to tell anyone but I work in the medical field. I did manage to keep it from my family (except hubby who is totally behind me). I’m waiting on insurance approval and that damm phone call I feel will never come. I’m hoping for. November but will be happy with December as long as it’s this year. Good luck!!!!! We got this.
I also am in the medical field and my husband works in anesthesia.
I have also kept it from my friends and family.

nln0317 I'm doing ok. Today was definitely better than yesterday. Still trying to rid myself of all if the trapped gas. Some pain but only took the liquid pain reliever twice today. Getting the liquids in is definitely a challenge. Can only do about 3oz of Protein Shake. I do better with 1/4 c organic roasted red pepper & Tomato Soup. It's taken me 3 hours to get 8oz of Water down. I added some electrolytes to it.
I have taken the Colace as directed, did a dose of Miralax today and still nothing.

I’m 3 days post op and I feel surprisingly good. Premier Protein shakes are still a little harder to get down than my Powerade zero and Water but it’s improving. This may be TMI but when did everyone finally had a BM. Should I go ahead and take Milk of Mag or wait???
My surgery was on the 26th. Since Apple juice is okay to drink sugar free Ive been able to have BM without issue.

I completely understand. This morning I was able to drink 4oz at a time and I took milk of Mag with no relief yet so idk what to do. But the pain is very minimal now and I’ve only taken Tylenol 1g today

Checking in...I'm almost 3.5 weeks post-op and finally turned a corner. Had multiple hurdles post-op (c.diff, pleural effusion, and pleurisy)….I'm now pain free and have been through several tests trying to determine why I am dehydrated and could not eat more than 2-oz. every 8-10 hours. My surgeon decided that my stomach was having spasms from the variations of temperatures that I was eating/drinking. So now that I've switched to everything being room temperature, I'm able to reach both my Protein and Fluid goals!!!! Yay!!!! I've reached the point that I gag if I use any Protein Powder now and I do not tolerate puree turkey or chicken :( So it's a lot of pureed Beans of sorts and pureed seafood salads (tuna, shrimp, crab, etc.). That's how I'm getting my protein in. But....my stomach is much happier this way. I am still not allowed to drive for another 10-12 days since I'm so weak from the dehydration and they are keeping a close watch on my kidney function, as it is not where they want it to be. But they are confident that this is all due to the multiple set-backs I experienced post-op and not from the surgery itself.

I'm ready to begin the mechanically soft food next week. I honestly haven't researched what that means exactly just yet, so any suggestions or recipes that anyone wants to share is greatly appreciated. I hope everyone is doing fantastic! My sister got sleeved on Monday of this week and is doing great. Her incision sites are sore (which I don't remember - but probably due to my other issues) and she too is already sick of the protein powder. I remember reading how much taste buds change post-op but nothing prepared me for how drastically different mine would be. Plus....I'm freezing all the time. No more hot flashes for me. And my nose is ultra sensitive - anyone else experiencing these type of things?

So everyone we made it!!! It is the last day of November, and I just can't believe how far everyone has come from the two week preop phase! This was our month and I think we all rocked it! I can't wait to see how we all do on this journey that we are on! Next stop be it purees or soft foods I think we know we are able to tackle everything that is infront of us! Here's to where it began with dreams of crossing our legs and fitting into airplane seats, I am just really proud of all of us! Have a wonderful weekend!!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
