I heard about this site from a friend who has had the surgery and done so very well.

I was 15 or so when my weight started to become an issue taking it off was a struggle. I never felt comfortable in my own skin.

Now I'm about to be 38 and 4 kids later am struggling to lose as I now have a hip that is giving me issues. I know that carrying this weight around is a big part of the problem.

I've done the gym went for year straight and lost weight but that was going two hours 5 days a week. And you can only continue that for so long before you give up.

I'm not looking for a quick fix I'm just wanting to be able to do what other mothers I know do.

I just dont know much about it and if I will lose anything really.

Thanks for taking the time to read

My suggestion to you is to read and research as much as you can online. Find a bariatric center in your area with a reputable surgeon and speak to them.

For me personally, I did my research for about 2 months online before I ever consulted a physician. When I did, I knew what questions I wanted to ask and didn't go in there with the mindset that I would have surgery, I wanted the guided non surgical weight loss, but I did go through the process as if I was going for WLS so that when the time came to make a decision everything would be done no matter what I decided.

Ultimately I opted for WLS because the diet and exercise weren't enough and my medical conditions were stacked against me.

This is your journey, research and ask questions...Only you can decide if this is the right decision for you

You'll definitely find a goldmine of information here. Read, compare, question, and be a fearless self-advocate. We're here to help if you have specific questions, but no one can give a one-time post that would be enough to prepare you for everything you'd want or need to know. Don't be a stranger here. But do something. Take some action. Today. Right now. It's good that you were committed to exercise in the past because that will be a key part of your post-surgical regime if you decide to move forward.

Oh, and.... welcome.

I had RNY gastric bypass surgery over 5 years ago. It was probably one of the best decisions I ever made. Here is a link to my experiences with the surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
