2-3 days post op... still sick

Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve don’t Monday. I’m still in the hospital as I had a high heart rate. I have barley ate or drank but I’m staying hydrated via IV fluids. I’m sooo nauseous!! I wonder how long I’ll feel like this? I’m concerned because nauseous and throwing up bile... what happens when I have Protein Shakes or something in my stomach? Am I just gonna be vomiting all the time???

I was heaving for a couple days post surgery. Would've vomited but there was nothing in there to bring up.

It settled down soon enough though and I was fine by the time I went home.

Did the hospital give you zofran? That should help with the nausea.

While I was in the hospital I didn't drink much either, I kept trying just so I could get discharged to go home. And once I was home I felt much better because I was in my own house.

Also ask for a scopolamine patch for the nausea. Stops it dead in its tracks.

The patch and zofran is t working. Still in the hospital and they gave me Reglan which if better. I’m having the worst anxiety because I feel like I cannot get relief. I had surgery Monday and I do how long this will last but I hate it and I’m terrified to go home

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
