I am very worried that I may need help.

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 12/14/2016. I am almost 2 years post opp. Still till this day I throw up on a consistent basis. I can not drink 60oz of Water. I can eat but only certain meats and certain carbs. My body feels weak.
The past 3 weeks have been the worst in quite some time. I have nearly fainted multiple times. During a gym session, after a yoga class and twice while mid-shower (I am pretty sure this was due to steam). I am literally crying as I type this. I never regretted getting my stomach cut until now. I am going to ER in the morning to get IV drip, hopefully I am just very dehydrated and I will feel better and get back to normal but I am so concerned. I want to call my surgeon but my mother told me to wait until we go to ER. Ugh. Not to mention, I have no been able to keep any food down since Tuesday. Today I had 1 grape and threw it up. This is crazy. I have been sipping water and thank god it stayed down today.

If anyone has any advice or has been through something similar please comment or inbox me.

PS - Yes I take Vitamin
PSS - I am posting pic so no one will assume I am malnourished or look sickly by reading this

Definitely go get fluids! Dehydrated for sure is my bet. You look great but not being able to eat 1 grape is not good. Need more Protein intake. Really need to talk to Dr maybe you have an obstruction that is restricting you food and drink intake. Glad to hear you get your Vitamins. I struggle getting mine.

I had surgery in March 2018. I have lots of Hair loss now. Which starting out with thin/fine hair already is disheartening.

It could be a number of non threatening things like a rohto virus, influenza or a stomach bug on top of dehydration. Or low blood pressure coupled withjust dehydration. Or just dehydration. All of these will make you feel terrible. ER will run tests but if really really really concerned give them your surgeons info to be contacted and ask for specialized test for things like Cdiff

I have very little to add except going to the Doctor is the essential call and you've already made it! If blood work doesn't tell what's going on, then they will need to check for obstructions, etc.

My very best to you. You look spectacular. Let's hope you feel the same quickly.

Are you waist training or over exercising? I ask because either could be causing some of the symptoms, but not all.

I'm wondering if you might have a stricture. Yes, it could be all those infectious things like GreenTealael posted above, but if you've never been able to eat certain meats or certain carbs and you can't get your fluids down, I suspect a stricture. ER is OK if your immediate concern is dehydration (and it sounds like it might be), but certainly f/u with your surgeon.

I wish you the best on getting through this. My question is why would you hold off getting in touch with your surgeon? At least to inform them you are going to ER for IV because you are concerned you may be dehydrated. Don't you think if you described your situation they might know from experience what could possibly be going on with you? The ER is a great idea but I think informing your surgical team is a must.

Hey hangin there.
The same happened to my last year ( I haven’t had my surgery yet) I went the exact same symptoms and it was dehydration. After the iv drip I felt 1000 times better. And potassium mega dose I felt like Superman. Talk about a recharge. I never felt so alive .

I literally blacked out and was carried to hospital after 3 fainting spells. I also felt sick as if I had the chills or flu. I couldn’t eat. I was shaking you name it.

Dehydration is horrible !!! So get your iv drip feel better and get back out there. Think of it as a skinny girl problem. 😂 you’ll be fine.

Ps. You look amazing 😉 I hope this helps

Thank you much for the kind words and advice I’m currently still in ER.. on my 4th IV drip bag. I called my surgeon and I have to see him. He said he may have to put a balloon in my stomach to slightly stretch it out more because I am probably restricted but he said that’s surprising after nearly 2 years that the stomach didn’t stretch. Procedure is short. Hoping it won’t get to that point but I will find out tomorrow after I go to the hospital where he is and he will look at stomach etc. then he will tell me what we have to do.

Also I was extremely dehydrated. I do feel better physically but I am still scared to eat. Did not even touch the apple sauce the nurse gave me. I am too nervous at this point 😞

Also 2 - This app has changed so much I don’t know how to even reply to comments separately anymore: When I go to gym I only walk on the treadmill now or do weights for my arms because they are flabby 🙄 I take yoga classes and that is not too hard on my body. No waist trainers I have one that a company sent me from Instagram but never touched I did not believe they work I do not use sweatbelts either

You poor thing! I really hope you’re feeling better now. Dehydration really makes you feel off and vomiting doesn’t help. Be kind to yourself in these moments and don’t hesitate to ask questions/make requests of your doctors and nurses. They are there to guide and serve, after all!

My surgery was Apr 2016 and I do not have any of those issues. Please call your surgeon. You must intake enough Water to sustain you. My water is more than what's required and your Protein is so important. It really sounds like an obstruction of some sort

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
