I am at the hospital and will be going back for surgery any time. Will let you know how it goes when I am on the other side. Pretty nervous. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

Wow. I can’t believe it is done. I went back to pre-op and before I knew it, I was asleep then suddenly it was done. When I woke up, I had pain in my back and shoulders and abdomin. The shoulder and back pain was difficult. But not intolerable. I have a pain med IV drip. I've mostly slept all day on and off. Dry mouth. About to do my second walk. Thank you everyone for all your thoughts and prayers.

At one day post surgery, pain is pretty much gone. Have been waking every few hours, which helps. Starting in an hour or so, they will begin to try to see if can tolerate Water. If that goes well, then Protein Shake, then I can go home. I can't say enough about how helpful this forum has been. Being able to get my questions answered and share my experiences for support is great! Thank you everyone!

And just another update. The Water and Protein went down fine. No issues. I am now home. Still some small pain, but they gave a prescription to manage it. I almost feel back to normal. But on the plus side- it's a new normal. I'm not hungry and feel like this is going to be a great success. Wishing everyone success in all upcoming surgeries!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
