Not loose Weight pre op

Recommended Posts

Hi guys ...
I’m on my 5 month pre op for sleeve and didn’t loose yet the weight 😞 required by my insurance , the nutri told me today that I must loose 10 pounds or they won’t approved me . My question- does anyone had been through this ?how did overcome ? I’ve been following the meal plan ; I guess I will have to put more effort on it —just afraid I will not make it - I’ve come so far

How long do you have to lose the 10lbs? That may determine your strategy.

Ok, well a month is not long, but depending on how overweight you are, you should be able to do it unless you are very metabolically resistant. Log every single bite. Measure everything. The pre op meal plan they gave me was 1500-1700 calories, which is far too high for me to lose any significant weight at my height, so you might have to play with the calories. Some people swear by Keto for quick weight loss and getting that initial Water off. Good luck!

Definitely to lose quickly consider cutting some carbs. Try staying to less than 50 grams a day and that should help you.

Focus on lean Protein and vegetables. I would stay away from breads, rice, Pasta, and high sugar content fruit until your last visit. One month means 2.5 pounds a week. You can do it, but you will need to stay very focused on plan.

Will they simply delay submission of info for surgery until you lose the weight? You were given 6 months to lose 10 lbs? Was this the insurance or doctors requirements? Hoping the best!

I have 30 days until my last visit after that they will submit the paper and I assume they will delay; but I’ll do the best to loose all until the last visit ...As well as the insurance requires 6 months of process. Insurance required me to lose 5% of my weight ;

Have you lost some of the required 5% already?

I've found that lots of Water and exercise is a great way to get it to come off. YOu might also want to resort to Protein Shakes for Breakfast and lunch and then a sensible, low-card dinner. Give that a try....

I'm curious, were you *really* following the diet they gave you to the letter without cheating? If you really did, and you didn't lose any weight, I personally would call out the nutritionist for providing you with a diet that wouldn't meet your needs.

But, 6 months to lose 10 lbs, isn't hard to do. Simply cutting most to all carbs, soda and sugars will net you a 10 lb drop fairly quickly.

I know @ Matt Z To it’s not ; to be honestly ; I’ve haven’t been strictly following the diet the way I should , but I did cut the half portion when I eat during week days , I don’t drink soda during week but on Sundays BBQ’S yes I do have carbonates drinks and basically eat during it . I guess I will have to really focus ; I haven’t been able to really exercise due to my lower back problems I do walk 3 times week I try to push my self at least 40 minutes ; but due to weight my knees and ankle start to really fill the pressure , I fell most of the time bloating I will try to minimize everything ....
Thank you all for the advices - 😉

ride the recumbent bikes. easier on the back and knees overall. And really push the Water intake, it's so very important to get in more water than your body typically needs and to avoid things that are diuretics right now, like soda, coffee, tea, caffeine... you'll get back to them later on, but if you REALLY want to make sure you stick this surgery... you've got to pretty much give up everything, for now.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
