Weight Watchers Freestyle

Recommended Posts

Anyone tried the new weight watchers freestyle?

It looks pretty compatible with the bariatric diet. Lean protine, fruit, and veggies are free (don't have to track/count)
You're given daily points for healthy fats, red meat, and whole grains (to help limit consumption to healthy amounts)
And a weekly budget for treats (sugar is very "expensive" on the new program)
Anyone tried it? Thoughts?

I have not tried it. If you feel it will help you lose weight pre op then give it a try.

Sounds like a revamp of the old 'Core and Flex' program as a marketing ploy to me.

Some issues I see now that I didn't when I was in WW - you don't need and should not rely on making yourself accountable to an entity. I erroneously thought that that accountability factor would make me successful at keeping weight off in WW. I also thought I needed them to tell me what to eat, it made THEM in charge and not me. Also I thought I needed their praise and rewards. Do you see where this is going? WW needs YOU.

I picked surgery to assist me.

What you need is YOU. And you can do this.

I get your point. I'm glad you had experience with WW. I think the original poster is looking for pre op weight loss ideas.

WW Freestyle is tougher than previous versions of WW, and it is also a lot healthier. It is very different and a lot more food than a post op diet, but it is a manageable program that will help you gradually make healthier habits post-op. It is pricy, and there are calorie counting apps you can use for free, but since the program makes sugary or high fat foods "expensive" in points, and allows low fat high Protein foods (like fish) and veggies and fruits to be "free", it pushes you to better choices. If you can't lose with carbs it isn't for you.

So @skinnylife, did I ask for your opinion on my opinion! LOL Does the OP need protection from opinions?

I have done the Freestyle program. I started it pre op and tracked my food so by the time I got my appointment with the nutritionist and she looked at my food journal she said I have nothing to tweak just keep doing what your doing. It is very similar to how they want you to eat.
You do still have to track with Freestyle but there are lots of foods that are free so you don’t have to track them. I felt it got me off to a great start.

Even the free foods should be tracked. It does make a difference based on your metabolism level. Just FYI

You don’t have to track the free foods, I was told that was part of making the program easier for people but I did anyways just for my own reference. But that might have changed since January as they might be tweaking the program?

When you have bypassed surgery everything needs to be counted. I was a long time. Ww person but if your metabolism is below the average it makes a bit of a difference. My resting metabolism is 1400. The average person is up to 2000 to 3000. So when losers ng 1 pound it’s a difference of a minimum of 500 calories. So for me eating even 1000 calories a day it make it next to impossible to loose.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
