Hi Everybody! New to the game. Had my revision surgery(Hence, "band to bypass" title)Monday August 6th, 2018. Doing well overall. Thought I was Super woman for a few days and over did it on the walking and consuming of liquids. Foolishly thought more was good(I mean aren't we suppose to get moving and increase dietary intake?). Paid for my aggressive start with VERY uncomfortable bloating and soreness.:( Had to regroup and scale back my regime and diet. Oh well, you live, you learn...hopefully.;) So i'm looking forward to a much healthier lifestyle with one of my first short term goals being able to decrease(or eliminate altogether) my need for insulin. Off to a great start already, no short term units needed and no high readings since leaving the hospital Wednesday! Yay me! So I wish all of us much success in our personal journeys and I hope to make some kindred friends along the way! Til we chat again, Take care of u!

Congrats! Most certainly take the time to heal up first! Then you can go full Super Hero!

I had my band removed and was revised to Bypass in March, best WLS choice I've made!

Hi Matt Z. You are my very first "commentor"! Now I really feel officially part of the gang.: Congrats on your weight loss and I have no doubt you will reach your 200lbs goal too! My first big goal weight is 199lbs. After that, everything else will be a very pleasant "bonus prize"! I'm feeling better and stronger each day and can't wait to finally CHEW on something again! LOl. So it's very nice to "meet" you and please let's keep in touch!

Hi!
I’m still in the waiting period and work up for band to bypass. I’m not sure yet but guessing surgery will be scheduled in January.
How are you both doing/feeling?
Anything I should be aware of with the revision?
Thanks!

The band was nothing it was promised to be. I had mine for 11 years. Hasn’t been any benefit at all. I’m hopeful RNY will be so much better! How far along in the process are you elcee?

I'm in Aus so things are probably a little different.

I saw my surgeon in Sept at which point he suggested the revision and I was given all the info and costings. I then went home to think about it. Contacted the office to find out what the process is and was told I need to see the surgeon again - app made for 29/10 and the dietician 30/10. I am hoping that I will then be given a date.

I have been for a preop consult already. I had an ECG, was asked various questions, had my feet and armpit checked ( they could have warned me about that prior to the appointment). I have been given a referral for bloods to be done 3 weeks prior to surgery.

So it will be soon for you 😊 It’s a 6 month program here. I finish my last weight management apt on December 6th, then they will submit to my insurance for approval. I’m hopeful to have surgery scheduled before the end of the year before my insurance copay and out of pocket maximum starts over in January. Fingers crossed. Hope your apts go well.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
