Hi all - 5 days post opp and the chest pain has subsided a bit! Whew. Trying to move as much as possible. I know I shouldn’t, but I hopped on the scale and only lost 2lbs since surgery! I am eating under 1000 cal a day (simply bc I can’t get down that much liquid). Is this normal? Figured I’d be down more! Thanks

Everyone’s body is different, try focusing on recovery instead of weight loss. By the any pounds lost is great. I am day 4 post op and I have lost 4 pounds. I had a dr appointment today, has it not been for the visit I wouldn’t be on the scale yet. I feel like I just need to focus on one thing at a time. Best wishes!!

I know that you had surgery in August, but wanted to leave a note in case someone reads this in the future w/ the same question.

I know it's easy to focus on the fact that we are taking in very little, therefore, there should be weight loss. However, remember, right after surgery your body goes into an inflammatory process and is in healing mode. It needs to conserve it's energy for healing incisions, Water shifts between cells to ensure blood pressure is adequate, nevermind the fact that we have IV fluids that hydrated us and often leaves us with excess Fluid volume. First week post surgery should not be about weight loss, simply pain management and recovery :)

Well, I am still on schedule for a December 26th surgery, but no longer sleeve, but instead bypass. Here is a link to my latest YouTube video explaining why the change:

Still stuck at a 50# weight-loss after three years. Starting to think the rest is never going to come off. I have decided to see a bariatric doctor, where I currently live, since I have moved away from the one that did my original surgery. Also starting to wonder what weight-loss percentage is considered a failure for this surgery. I don't want to be one of the unsuccessful stories, but I'm becoming very discouraged. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I lost the weight I did, but why won't the rest GO?!

I have been very busy lately and my arm has finally stopped hurting, still no lifting, but my weight loss started up again so i am back to trying to find the right calorie number to hold in place. Its weird to think this way now and i am having a harder time increasing my calorie intake than i thought i would. It feels wrong to tell myself to eat more. So many years of yo-yo dieting messing with me right now. The Mental game just never ends.

Wow, your arm hurt a long time. Glad it finally resolved. Hope you can get back to your weight training soon, I know you enjoyed that.

yea i had/have a pinched nerve at the top of the elbow and it is a very slow thing to recover from. The arm is weaker than before but feeling much better when i use it.

every time i thought it was better i would start some form of training and it would go numb again all along the tricep. so its very light exercises and treadmill :(

      3. Orchids&Dragons

Is there anything they can do to "un-pinch" it?

      4. allwet

stretches and never putting pressure on back of arm, like you do if you use the bicep or tricep curl machines. Surgery is a last resort but doc says i need to try everything else first.

The loss of so much fat around the nerve bundle allowed it to move around more.

That stinks. Sorry. One of those d@mn unintended consequences.
