Street tacos (ground Turkey, corn and avocado)

Can I even claim they are street tacos if they were made and eaten at home? 🤔

i think so long as there is no cheese it's considered a street taco!

(but i also think there's supposed to be cilantro in it??)

regardless...looks yummy!

No cheese or cilantro so you’re right, these are not street tacos, these were poorly executed 🥹

Seeing how little people are able to eat scares me. How can someone survive on so little? I hope my restriction isn’t as intense as some peoples. As crazy as that may sound. Right now if I eat even a bit too much I’m miserable. It’s no way to live. Hopefully that will go away and I can just feel the fullness without being sick.

Actually most of us eat pretty much a recommended portion in our maintenance. It just looks small compared with how much we used to eat for a meal before surgery - double, triple or more an appropriate serve. Some meals may be a little less because of what else we’ve eaten during the day & how hungry we feel. You’re only a little way out from surgery & still healing & recovering so yes some days will be harder than others, some foods will upset you more or sit more heavily in your tummy & you are eating much smaller serves. It does get better. You work out your cues, you’re able to eat a greater variety of foods without issue, & your portion sizes will slowly increase to appropriate serving sizes. In time you’ll look back & realise this time, though sometimes frustrating & upsetting, didn’t last all that long & was so worth it.

All the best.

Ditto to what Arabesque said.
I’m 5 years Post Sleeve. So speaking from a little experience that I have had.

Like she said you have to adjust to a new way but it’s just a new way. It’s not unsustainable. We all use to eat portions that were way over what we should have and a lot of us got to our heaviest points this way.
It is a bit of a mind-$&@! but you will get use to your new normal and it will become so normal. I know you don’t think so yet but give your mind and body a chance to get use to this big change.
Hang in there. We are all here for you. Some of the people on here have helped me sooo much. A lot of really great info. You will find recipe ideas and which ones work for you and which don’t etc.
BP is a great resource and support system. I wish you the best!

Everything others have said, and I don't think you need to worry too much about survival on little food. Most WLS patients lose about 65-70% of their excess weight, and it's rare to lose 100%. Also, many have to work very hard not to regain. So fortunately, we do survive very well [emoji3059]. Appetite increases as well as volume capacity as time goes.

thought i was a genius for putting this concoction together: leftover home fries from 2 days ago, leftover buratta from yesterday, some fresh mozzarella, a bit of cheddar (for saltiness) and a soft boiled egg.

turns out it was not that delicious, haha.

original bowl estimated at 503 calories, updated to 276 calories for what i actually ate (basically just ate the mozzarella, cheddar and the egg)

will probably be rummaging thru fridge for something else to eat in an hour or so...

It’s always Soup time @GreenTealael & yours looks yummy.

Did another expedition into the depths of my freezer yesterday & found minced beef so I made rissoles with a little gravy. 500g gave me 6 meals of which I froze 5. Didn’t remember to take a pxt until an hour after they were in the freezer so they’re partially frozen in the pxt.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
