Recommend me a fitness tracker?

Recommended Posts

I bought a fitbit altaHR and in only a few months I've had so many issues...

-The app has trouble finding my fitbit

-The battery dies in less than 24 hrs now

-It randomly dies for no reason and cant turn back on unless I plug and restart it

I'm over fitbit forever and was wondering what you're all using!

Sent from my Nexus 6P using BariatricPal mobile app

I have an apple watch that I really like. More than just a fitness tracker too. But alas I am an avid Apple user. :)

I've never had issues with FitBit... but you have to read everything, the battery life on some of the devices sucks if you leave certain functions on... I've got the FitBit Charge HR 2 right now. I leave the heart rate monitor off because it kills the battery. Have you contacted FitBit about the issues you've faced? They are generally VERY good about support.

I have a first generation Apple Watch that I really dig. I’ve had it for three years without any issues.

I use an Apple watch I also set it to vibrate every 15 mins so I remember to drink

I like my Misfit Ray, because I can wear other bracelets with it. It doesn't seem to sync very often during the day, but I've never had trouble getting it to sync when I open the app. It talks to MyFitnessPal and other calorie trackers, same as Fitbit. (There are some things Fitbit works with that nothing else does. But not many.)

My friends with Jawbones also really like those.

I have been using MyFitnessPal to track my food so because of that started using MapMyWalk app. It's pretty good. Tracks your path from A to Z, tracks distance, duration, pace, calories burned, steps and elevation. Also shows your location on a map and your path. You log in with the same account and it syncs with MFP. There also other apps like MapMyFitnessWorkoutTrainer, MapMyRun, MapMyHike, MapMyRide.

I use the MISFIT products more because of visual appeal than the functionality of the products, but the plus is the battery is a real watch battery and it lasts for at least a year. It syncs easily with MFP.

I also have a Samsung Gear 2 that I use when I volunteer for the ability to make / receive text messages on my wrist. The battery is barely good 2 days.

I think you really have to decide what you want to track as far as fitness goes. If it's just steps, running, swimming, then MISFIT may work for you. If you're looking for a more complex tracking going with an Apple watch or Samsung Gear may be for you.

My husband swears by his Garmin Vivofit. Worn it a year without a single issue. Also they have XL size to fit his large wrist. Got it on Amazon.

Ditto. Don't know how I lived without it. ;)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
