Should I book another fill?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was banded in March 2007... I've had a couple of hiccups with my port firstly it was inaccessible and then the tubing became disconnected. I thought I had 5cc in but there was only 2 in when I had the port replaced a month ago.

the doc wanted to put 5cc in, but I negotiated it down to 4cc  as I felt I would have been too tight!(I have a 9.5ml band)

Initially, it was perfect! no guzzling liquids and small meals in the evenings I lost the 10lb I'd gained during the preceeding 10 weeks almost immediately.

Problem is that my restriction has worn off somewhat... not Loads but enough for me to be hungry in the evenings... My food choices are limited still and the junk seems to go down without too much trouble :cry The upshot is that I've not lost any weight now for 3 weeks :D I'm back to being able to down a pint of Water without taking a breath. My surgeon says that if you can do that, then you can afford tighter restriction!

I don't have any other problems... no reflux, not much in the way of pb's (thankfully)

You opinions please...... Would you have another fill?

I'd get one. If you're able to eat too much, experiencing a lot of hunger and you're not losing weight, then it sounds like it's time for a fill.

For me, I want the weight to come off and I need the band to work for that to happen. I've needed my fills to get to proper restriction.

Best of luck to you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
