Recommended Posts

I need a compression shirt to help keep my gut steady as u learn to run. I am post op, 6'0 and 295 lbs. 50 inch waist, 57 gut and 52 chest. I am a 2xl deluth Trading shirt. Size charts say i am a 2xl underwear, bit i wear 1xl. Any brand or size suggestions?

I bought a sleeveless under armour at big 5. it was on sale for $25 i went with a 2x weighd about 280 (about a month after surgery) at the time. I also found compression T's at target for $13. As for size go 1 size smaller than you wear. good thing about going to a store is you can try them on. After you learn your size you can buy online as well. Good luck.

I buy the Tesla brand compression shirts on Amazon. I've tried a bunch and like those best. As poster above said, but 1 size smaller than you normally wear. I like these because they're long and can be easily tucked in if wearing a an undershirt.

Go to eastbay.com. I use the Eastbay Evapor. It's their "generic" brand. I wear it religiously. It's inexpensive and they have 2 for sales on it most of the time. The compression is great and they last forever.

Compression gear should be purchased at 1 size smaller than your current comfortable shirt size.

Brand really doesn't matter too much, go for the cheapest up front, until you get to a stable size. I'm already out a bit of money on compression gear due to size drops. I've been buying from a company called RedPlume on Amazon, they've got some good compression gear and some great "Super Hero" prints (like the superman shirt in my avatar)

What's the deal with the compression gear? I'm not sure I follow as to the need or what? Sorry a little green here with the lack of info.

I originally purchased a compression shirt right after surgery because it was easier to use and more comfortable than the band the doctor gave me. Now I use compression shirts to help with the loose skin. I am starting to run and with 100+ lbs lost my skin jiggles a lot. The compression shirt helps reduce much of that jiggle, that is the main reason I use it. There are other claims about it such as helping circulation and keep body heat in as well as wick away moisture.

Hey Matt,

check out aliexpress. This is most likely where redplume is sourcing their gear, and most have free shipping. The only issue is the time to receive your gear.

Question for you Matt. I know they list the sizes as Asian, how off is it to US sizing? I currently use a US XL size. Which using the inch to cm conversion looks like their size XXL. What size is you superman shirt for reference? we are the same height and i weigh 255 now.

The superman is XXL, And truth be told, at 247 right now, it's not as compressive as it once was. I bought an XL from Red Plume and it fits snug like you'd expect now.

Picked up 2 sets (matched set shirt/pants of Super Hero stuff) of compression gear from Aliexpress for less than $30 shipped.

Can't wait!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
