i'm tired and depressed

Recommended Posts

So glad you got some great news yesterday - And happy for your heat!!! I was worried about you when I just read that.

I didn't even come to the board after I posted my poor me story - I was too depressed... but I am getting out of that funk a bit now... (sex helps... LOL) I just hope I can stay out of the funk - I dunno - being away from my family is having a toll on me too... so it is just a compilation and I do miss my friend - food. DH, bless his heart, tried to make me feel better by buying me ice cream.... felt great for about 15 minutes then I felt worse because I ate it... but oh well... too late now.

anyways - I will pray for everyone on here as that is the one thing I can afford to do! :)

God Bless everyone!

Amy

Judy,

I just wanted to say thanks for praying for me. I feel much better now. I did cancel my appointment for my fill tomorrow. But.....about three hours after I did, my DH called me all excited. The owner of the company that he works for decided that everyone needed their Christmas bonus early, as in today! I called and have my fill rescheduled for tomorrow!!! And we now have the money to catch up on our bills and get some heat. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I love the support that we can all get here.

are you getting enough Protein. that can make you tired... hope you feel better soon. i try to get 80 grams of protein a day. half your body weight in protein. so if you weight 200lbs then you need 100 grams protein. i use iso pure vanillla cream with orange juice in blender. tastes so good. 50 grams protein per serving. good luck.............

i feel awful for posting that i was depressed now. i realize that i am really blessed in my life right now. i have a beautiful son, a good job, and a husband that loves and cares for me deeply. money is a little tight right now, because of me and dh missing work for my surgery, but we will make it. we always do. i have been sick and missed work a lot the past year (probably 2 months total), i'm happy now that my pains and Migraines have allowed me not to miss much work with the exception of time off for my surgery..and my son was sick.

thank you all for your responses. i am happy to report, that my energy level has increased substantially, and i'm not feeling so gloomy anymore. i think it is due to exercise, as i have gone consecutively for the past 3 days (that's HUGE for me). i'm still fighting head hunger, and i eat no sugar added fudgsicle's and 100 calorie carrot cakes occasionally. i've gotten away from yogurt as much. i'm having trouble finding low calorie high Protein foods, any advice?

my typically daily menu is 2 turkey sausages, or 1/4 cup egg substitute, for lunch i have 6 pieces ham lunchmeat with one slice of cheese, and for dinner i have meatloaf and broccoli. according to my calculation's that is only about 36 grams of Protein. i'm not supposed to drink Protein shakes anymore.

thank you all, i will pray for those of us who are facing this battle, be it with weight loss, or personal affairs. we will get through this, we just have to lean on one another and keep faith. there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

:whoo:That is awesome!!!!!! Oh Mandy I'm so happy for you all. I remembered to pray for all of you again. I started a while back praying for all obese people, but now I've added my special Lap-Band friends.

AMEN! God is good! :clap2:

Hi,

I was going to ask why you aren't supposed to have shakes anymore? I know all the doctors are different. I think you ought to add more protein to your diet. Does the doctors office have a dietitian? If so maybe she could help you tweak your diet a little bit.

BTW, I have unflavored soy protein, and I add it to Soup, and other things. It gives about 13 extra grams of protein per serving. Maybe you could add 2 protein Snacks per day.

I'm glad you are feeling better. Thanks for the prayers.

once we cross into the mushies phase of our doctor, they say no liquid calories at all, even if it is a Protein Shake. i think i am going to start to drink Protein Shakes again though because i just cannot get adequate Protein. i'm very tired again today.

my doctor's office did mention some protein that you can add to Water, but it would still be 70 calories (i haven't found anything yet, that i would want to add to water). i think one good protein shake would be good for me, and i may start that again soon. What type of protein shakes do you use? I have the unflavored whey protein, but i'm not supposed to have Soups and stuff anymore, and i can't quite figure out how to add it to certain foods without it turning hard.

Protien bullets have about 45 gr of protien and can be added to Water and drank. I won't lie and say they are delicious but they do give you lots of protien. Our clinic encourages us to get liq. protien. They are all so different. I was started on mushies before I left the hosp. Now 2 weeks post op I can eat soft foods with no problem and it sounds like many of you are still on liq. It makes me wonder if it really matters what we eat as long as we can tolerate it. Bandster, I'm so glad you are feeling better. Reminded me of when I was young and broke all the time. Hang in there.

Reading this thread makes me realize how very fortunate i am. I was a little down for a while after surgery but i think it was mostly because it is hard to let go of the addiction to food. I have no real problems in my life right now ( except my son works on an army base in Iraq) and i need to be grateful for all i have. My heart goes out to those who are having a hard time. Donna

posting this thread made me realize the same thing. the only problems i'm having are dealing with a food addiction (my health has already improved greatly).

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
