So after my infected incision healed it sorts sunk in like a second belly button and it is still in the red stage of healing. What did everyone use for their scars to help so with the redness and to make them less visible? Eventually one day when i lose enough weight I want to be able to wear a bikini, it’s my dream! So any tips would be helpful!

I use an antibiotic powder to help the healing. Never a cream. I am diabetic so I needed the extra help to ensure there is no infection.

I bought bio oil to use on my incision scars and on my stomach, thighs and arms to help minimize weight loss stretch marks

I used bio-oil on randomly-chosen half my hysterectomy scar as a single-subject trial. Independent assessment (my partner) says the bio-oil half is perhaps 30% as visible as the non-bio-oil half - a difference was clear after about 2 months.

One subject only, so not good science, but I am now putting it on all of my RNY scar.

I had an open bypass - navel to breastbone scar. Hysterectomy is navel to pubic bone scar. My backup plan is a tattoo of a zip and small words alongside saying “Store pyjamas here” 🤣

I started using Bio-oil about a month ago after reading positive reviews on this forum. My scars are fading nicely. I also use it on my hips, thighs, and arms to help reduce that shrunken, Shar Pei, appearance. Cannot testify about it's effectiveness on that, but my skin has never felt so soft and velvety.

Good tips on using the oil in weight loss spots! I hadn’t even thought about that!

I spoke with my Dermatologist about my scars and was informed that the silicone scar Patches work well and time will make a big difference

I'm doing plastics after I lose my weight. I've done a lot of reading about how to minimize scaring. Silicone tape, gel or Patches are almost universally recommended by cosmetic surgeons and their patients.

I'm using this on my sleeve scars.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
