My surgeon is very experienced in the single incision VSG but even he hesitates to do it. I’ll tell you this honestly, he did 4 incisions for me and they are TINY. I’m talking mm not inches. 15 days out and they’re basically completely healed. No regrets. I returned to work today and actually showed them to the people there and they were amazed. They couldn’t even spot 2 of them! Also, I carry my weight in my tummy, so I know I’m going to need a tuck as soon as I stabilize my weight. With how small they are, they won’t be noticed and with the plastics, I’m not worried at all.
Also, arnica cream works wonders!

That is reassuring because as you mentioned, if the surgeon is experienced with the single incision and finds that he does need to add more incisions the chances are they will be small and not noticeable. I’m hoping to avoid the loose skin if possible so that I won’t need a Tummy Tuck. I’m active and go to the gym about 5 times a week and I need to lose about 50-60 pounds total to be at my ideal weight. I’d settle for 40-45. Being that I am considered lower BMI I am fully expecting to lose slowly. From the posts I’ve read it has prepared me for that which I am completely fine with. Of course I’ll only really know when I actually have the surgery. Thanks for the tips and advice.

Thank you for the kind words. I still struggle bc I felt like such a ding-dong after posting Picts. Still so insecure about having people purposely look at me. But thank you for being so sweet. Yeah, the social anxiety piece was the main driver. It was no way to live!

Thank you for the photos, you look wonderful and very happy. You mentioned you had Hair loss, how long did it last?

I think it’s still going on. My doctor said it should start slowing down. I have noticed a ton of new growth though. It sucks. Sucks. But it doesn’t happen to everyone!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
