My RNY was done5/17/18. So far recovery has been what expected, except for diarrhea I developed abou 2-3 days ago. Very unpredictable w/ stomach pain just prior. I wasn’t expecting that while still on the liquid diet. I thought it had stopped this am, and was due to try puréed foods today. 1 oz of puréed cottage cheese went well tonight for dinner, now an hour or so later diarrhea has returned. I’m almost afraid to try anything, liquid or puréed! Suggestions?

Pretty sure most are still on pureed foods at the 2 week mark. I was eating all sorts of foods... if it would puree, I would try it. Soups, chill, etc.

Have you noticed if the problems occur with a non-dairy item like apple sauce? I'm wondering if it's a milk thing...

I only had two weeks of liquid. Now I have 4 weeks of 2 liquid meals and one 3 oz. soft Protein. I have tried grilled chicken breast & rotisserie chicken, but even though the meat was super moist and I chewed it into paste it still felt like rocks going down. eggs are not agreeing with me, but fish like cod and tilapia are going down okay. I can get about 2 oz down. Mostly though I stick to Greek yogurt. It is the easiest on my digestive system.

My surgeon advanced my diet to soft mushies on day 10 post op. He also told me that after one month I have no restrictions which was surprising to me. I had a revision from sleeve to bypass on 5/22/2018 and I pretty much feel back to normal. I have to remind myself that my stomach is still healing and I can't eat certain things. The good thing is that I do not feel hungry at all. When I was sleeved I often felt hungry, plus I always had small Snacks due to the severe reflux. I found that when I had something small in my stomach the reflux was not as severe. Well I have been reflux and pain free since surgery and as I mentioned, I am not hungry.

Hey, I feel the same! Gsv conversion to bypass 5/17/18. I feel great, like you have to remind myself to sip and chewy thoroughly. I still am not trying chicken, red meat etc. I also am reflux free which was my biggest issue prior along with the snacking which I also dont do as much now. Still some bowel issues, but minor.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
