So I did great with getting my liquids and Protein until yesterday. All of a sudden I couldn’t keep anything down. Not even Water. No nausea or feeling like crap. No pains or fever or anything. Well, hiccups. Lots of those. But every time I sipped anything, I would salivate like crazy for 20 minutes and then it popped right back up. It never felt like it got to my stomach; rather it was like it got lodged in my upper chest. When it came back up, there were no stomach contractions or stomach acid.

So here I am, in the ER. I’m going to be getting some IV fluids and a CT scan. My DO here thinks it’s most likely esophageal swelling where the esophagus meets the new pouch, and the CT scan will show that. I’m sure I’m in for lots of waiting, but I’ll be glad to have this figured out! I’m thirsty and honestly more annoyed than anything. Lol.

Keep you guys posted.

I am so sorry to hear about this. I hoe that it can be fixed soon so you can drink. Hopefully it isn’t anything serious.

I had to get IV fluids as well today because the physician asst. said I was a bit dehydrated.

Hang in there & keep us updated

Thank you everyone! Well I’ve had a big bag of Fluid with protonix and reglan. Now I’m sipping on some SF peach tea with something in it for the CT scan. They should be coming to do that around 5:30. Giving it time for whatever is in here to work it’s way all the way through my system.

I know! But I’ll keep you posted. At least I’ve been able to keep the 2 and 1/2 cups of nastiness down for the CT. I’m ready to get this rolling, get the problem fixed, go home and get back on track!

Hey guys. CT scan done. 15-20 minutes to get the results. Able to keep down 3 cups of contrast/peach tea in 90 minutes after the reglan and protonix. Hoping I get scripts for those meds to take home since they worked so well!

Ok. Now we’re getting into some BS level stuff. Since I was a nurse, I know what their main page of medhost means. My CT results have been reviewed for almost an entire hour and not one person has come by my room. I’m about to walk my happy butt out the the nurses. Keeping someone waiting on something as important as, oh, I don’t know.... being able to swallow anything? Is too much

Well nothing requires surgery. Looks like inflammation of the lower esophagus so it’s all IV and overnight for me. My surgeon is on the way here to check me out as well.

I'm glad to hear it's something relatively minor. Hope you're feeling better soon!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
