Good luck!

I can't wait for my appts on Monday. The psych doc called and told me they verified my benefits with my insurance. The psych visit is covered. I just need my pcp to do the referral. I see everyone Monday. Ugh but it will be worth it!!

I hope all goes well! Take care!

We have same age, weight-loss goal, and home town! I will probably be banded the first part of December, and look forward to reading about your experiences.

Who are you going to? I live out in Dripping Springs but my doctor's office is on Jollyville Road near the Arboretum. What part of town are you in?

I am in Cedar Creek - Bastrop County about 20 miles southeast of Austin....I am going to True Results - Dr. Marsden. I had my first diagnostic appointment 10/19, and will probably have surgery the first part of Dec. He travels up from San Antonio. My mom lives in "Drippin'" - beautiful place!

PS - Gig em Aggies (he he)

Did you do that free $400 session? If so, what does that consist of? I signed up online to do that but no one contacted me and I didn't want to go all the way up there and find out they weren't expecting me. I had started considering other options by then, too. I'm self-pay and needed to keep the costs down.

I have an open mind about Aggies -- my daughter married one. ;)

I called them on the phone - the consult included exam by a nurse practitioner, labwork, xrays, EKG, and a talk with a lap-band support person I keep in touch with about what to do next. I am self-pay (wonderful state employee insurance!) Just awaiting a date that the doc comes from San Antonio.

Wow, that's great -- the visit actually included things that would have to be done anyway! Good for you!

By the way, could you get it done sooner if you went to San Antonio?

Probably - but December is fine with me, and the austin surgical hospital is alot closer. Maybe you can help me....I went to TickerFactory and made a ticker, but can't figure out how to move it to this site...what is the secret?

After you've chosen your ticker, the last window gives you several places with code. Just copy the code in the top window, then go to UserCP at the top of this board, and click on Edit Signature. Paste the code into the signature box and you can add any other text you wish (such as my consultation and banding dates below.) You can test it by clicking on "Preview Signature" at the bottom of the signature window. When you're all done, just click on Update Chages (or something like that) at the bottom and it will start showing up in future posts.

You will LOVE Austin Surgical Hospital! Everyone there was so friendly, caring, and efficient. It made the entire experience that much better for me.

So you had this done YESTERDAY??? Wow. What did they give you for pain? I liked your comments about the baby's foot.... I have never had surgery, but I compare everything to the pain of childbirth. Back in the 70's everyone was on drugs except women having babies. The "natural way" was in back then! I will try that info for the ticker. Thanks

I've got liquid Tylenol with codeine. It seems to be working pretty well.

The only other surgery I've ever had was a tubal ligation back in 1984. But he went in through my belly button and I don't remember anything much to recovery. And nothing about the lap band surgery approaches the pain of childbirth! :) At least, not in my experience.

That is very comforting! BTW, the ticker instructions worked!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
