I came home yesterday after having my surgery on Thursday. I spent one day in the hospital and i live alone but I’m grateful to have friends who support me and check in on me daily and almost every hour If i need anything. I’ve been tired a lot lately and i feel like i am not using the bathroom enough like the hospital. Still feeling some discomfort but I’m hoping to be off the pain meds by tomorrow night. Drinking fluids for two weeks is my meal plan post op and it’s hard to keep sipping but I’m trying. Does anyone else feel this way? I’m excited for this journey tho.

I also had surgery on Thursday and came home on Friday. My plan is a bit different from yours, so I am eating three meals of 1-2 tablespoons of soft Protein food (e.g., Greek yogurt) and one Protein Shake divided into three portions throughout the day. It seems like you’re doing very well! I agree, hard to keep sipping but so important. I am thrilled that I was able get over 70 ounces of fluids today. This will get easier, too.

Hoping for a continued smooth recovery for you!

I really had to work my way up to drinking enough water/liquid, but keep at it . . . as long as you can keep from being dehydrated, that's the important thing at this point. Take it easy for a while--let your new stomach heal--and enjoy the future!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
