Pouch volume Vs Sleeve which one has more restriction?

Recommended Posts

I’ve been wondering this for a while but still no idea which one is more restrictive.

I think a bypass is a bit more restrictive but I don't know for sure.

Finally found something on this.. The sleeve pouch is (3-4 ounces) compared to the gastric bypass pouch (1 ounce) and LAP-BAND[emoji768] pouch (1/2 ounce).

Found this on oliakcenter.com

i had the RNY 12/18/17. It's not as bad as it sounds. I"m almost 5 months out and I'm doing pretty good. I can eat foods without issue and can definitely eat more that 1 oz. That may be the case right after surgery but it gets better over time as it heals.

It is, our Kangaroo pouch,is the size of an duck egg, you bananarama sleevers have maybe a nice banana size. And since we have no longer a helpful valve at the end of our food processor, it's rapid transit down the intestine. That's why it's super important we don't eat with our meals, things become a total washout😛...........💕Frust8 the happy, future Kangaroo

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
