SLEEVE REVISION TO GASTRIC BYPASS

Recommended Posts

Hi there! I had sleeve surgery 5 years ago. The first year was great. I did well and didn't have any complications. I lost almost 100lbs in just over a years, but was never able to hit my goal weight. It seemed like as soon as I got to the year mark my body stalled and I wasn't able to lose any more, and it was a struggle not to start gaining. I was eating right an exercising . It was like my body adjusted to the new way of eating and I slowing started to gain back. 5 years out and falling back in to back eating habits I have gained back 50lbs and I am struggling with severe reflux again. This had greatly improved after my weight loss and hiatal hernia repair with the sleeve. In September, I have going to have another hiatal hernia repair and revision to sleeve surgery to gastric bypass. Anyone else revised from sleeve to bypass care to share your experiences?? Advice? Thoughts? Warnings? Success? Complications?

Hi :)

I had a Sleeve in May 2014, lost 186lbs in the first year or so then regained around 100lb over the next 18 months.

I got back onto full plan and was able to lose around 56lb of that 100 before having the revision to a Bypass on April 17th. It is early days for me as still on Fluid only, but I think I made the best decision. I wish you all the luck in the world.

Hi I just went through the revision surgery . On Apr 2. It has been tough but it will get easier . I didn't gain any weight after my sleeve I just ripped my hernia repair. Trying to lift to much weight . Cause of my own pain and it was bad . Now I am feeling much better just started my soft foods . That is a struggle to make sure you chew really well cause blockage is easy . The opening in your new stomach is only about the size of a pencil eraser

Can't give any advice/experience, just wanted to say that I will also need the sleeve to bypass revision soon. Apprehensive about it, but due to GERD, eat I probs, etc, it's time to get bit done.

Wish you the best!

I did want to ask. How long did you have to stay in the hospital after your revisions? 1 or 2 days?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
