What order should the plastics be done?

Recommended Posts

It could well be that people have individual reasons for doing one surgery before the other. Some people might even do more than one at once. But if you start kind of small to get the process going, and if you are just newly at goal weight, what would you start with? Any suggestions, or personal experiences?

Im not at goal weight but will be soon, and considering starting surgeries thst soon. My mentor who has worked with thousands of patients agrees that at my older age there is no need to wait an extra year for anything, since she sees how dedicated I am to my lifestyle, and why waste that time? But still, I might well lose more or get more muscle as I continue to get fitter. My idea is maybe the best way to start is the boob lift plus implants. I saw a friend go through it (not after WLS though) in October 2017 and by January she was fully back at normal life looking and feeling great. She was pretty much by December too but by Jan it was like surgery never happened.

Also, are there some surgeries you might later decide not to even do, as you get used to your new body? Like right now, I want the boobs, the lower body / Tummy Tuck thing, and my thighs are still all out of proportion with fat and skin now, it is really where all my last 10-15 lbs are, and I’d also love to get rid of the arm wings. Possibly also the neck skin.

Has anyone done those 4 things, and in which order did you do them? Just wondering how to plan this out. Thanks.

Congrats on your successful, positive lifestyle change!!

I would do in order of importance to me. The areas that bother me the most before the areas that I can ignore, camouflage, cover or learn to live with for a bit.

I hear you but the thighs bother me the most and they have more to lose plus I hear that surgery is really a tough recovery. Anyone start with them? Anyone start with one of the more difficult ones first?

I have not met with a plastic surgeon but I am thinking top and bottom. Do the top - boobs, arms and maybe neck. And then a year or so later do tummy tuck/LBL and thighs.

My thighs are actually the worst but I can hide them with clothes. Even longer shorts.

With you on the thighs - I had breasts tum rear and outer thighs done together I am doing the arms separate as that skin Pulls in a different direction. The inner thighs also will be done separate that skin pulls pulls opposite from the stomach. Pick your surgeon and they know this process. Best

Stella, how bad was recovery with breasts and all the lower bodies done at once? Was the three lower body parts together called a lower body lift? How do they get the outer thighs done with the stomach and butt? And how happy are you with the results?

I’m scared to do too much together. I’m motivated to start with boobs because I saw my friend go through it and it really doesn’t look so hard, plus you look awesome in clothing pretty soon, and that might make up for the lower stuff still looking not quite right.

I had my first set of surgeries 12/12/17. Medial/Inner Thigh Lift, Brachioplasty and Mastopexy. The most painful the first day were thighs, but the most painful overall in recovery were arms. The breasts had barely any pain, but maybe because my body was overwhelmed with the pain in other areas! I didn't have any drains, but ended up with a seroma in one of my thighs, which had to be drained about 4 times and is completely gone. These areas were done first, because my arms bothered me the most. One of the first questions my doctor asked me was, "If you had a magic wand and could fix 3 areas in the order of importance, what would they be?" My next set of surgeries IN 2 WEEKS (06/05/18) will be the Lower Body Lift with fat transfer to my bottom, Lateral/Outer Thigh Lift and an Upper Back Lift. I decided to not get implants, because I absolutely LOVE my smaller perkier breasts! So, instead of getting implants (which we were going to do during this surgery), I'm getting my upper back lifted. I've realized how much my back bothers me. I always wear shirts that camouflages the loose skin bulge in my bra. I was concerned with the order of the surgeries, because if you do the lower body first, then the upper body, you can fine tune what was already done on the lower. I discussed this with my doctor, but he assured me that the difference it would make on MY body would not outweigh the cost I'm saving in doing 2 surgeries instead of 3. GOOD LUCK in your decision and just rest assured that whichever order you go and all is done it will be a happy ending!!

Ms V, that is awesome, so glad you are getting everything done you wanted. You were a brave woman to get the two most painful ones right off the bat, arms and inner thighs. I am too chicken to do that.

I have so many questions for you. When would you say you felt back to normal after the inner thighs and the arms? When were you allowed to work out again? If you work out.

Did you have the same surgeon do all three of your first surgeries? Did you choose an expert in post WLS plastics?

Interesting you say that about your back. I am finding I have the same negative feeling about my side boob skin right now. I am wondering if a regular boob lift and implant takes care of the side boob area, getting rid of all that extra skin. It really bothers me.

is it true that you cannot have the boob lift and implant at the same time?

Thank you for taking the time to answer my newbie questions.

I want to have my tummy done first and then my arms and breasts. I'm afraid that if I did my arms and breasts first, that the Tummy Tuck would pull my breasts down. Don't know if this is a valid concern but I worry about it nonetheless.

I had a breast reduction last year (before WLS) and there was NO pain at all. I would add that onto any other surgery. It was extremely easy, and they chopped off a full 8lbs!

I plan on doing the arms AND a 360 lower body lift at the same time. I just want to get it all done and over with. Suffer through it once, not multiple times.

The side boob fat is not actually part of your breast. It's fat. Like part of your side.. torso... I asked about it when I had my reduction/lift. They will not touch it; it's a separate procedure. You would need liposuction in that area and skin removal separately if there is any.

Recovery was rough. My PS will not do arms with breasts and will not do inner thighs with LBL. Yes. Yess tum and rump all - lower body lift. I had lips of outer thighs and some fat transferredto my rump So I did the LBL with BL - breast lift. Had my arms done this Sept. Next inner thighs!

You guys are awesome that have had the surgeries. I just want my breast done because it is physically uncomfortable since my nipples touch my stomach. And my stomach. I think at the moment that's it.

I had a FDL with muscle repair, mastopexy, extended brachioplasty and mons lift in my first round and I have just had a reverse FDL. Next up is thighs and completion of the belt lipectomy. The difference is life changing but it is definitely not something to go into lightly the recovery can be emotionally challenging

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
