Vegemite (IPA: /ˈvedʒɪmɑɪt/) is a dark brown savoury food paste made from yeast extract, used mainly as a spread on sandwiches, toast and cracker biscuits, as well as a filling of pastries like Cheesymite scroll, in Australia and New Zealand. It is similar to British Marmite, New Zealand Marmite and Swiss Cenovis.

Vegemite is made from leftover brewers' yeast extract, a by-product of beer manufacture, and various vegetable and spice additives. The taste may be described as salty, slightly bitter, and malty - somewhat similar to the taste of beef bouillon. The texture is smooth and sticky, much like peanut butter. It is not as intensely flavoured as Marmite and it is less sweet than the New Zealand version of Marmite.

Vegemite is popular with many Australians and New Zealanders, who commonly consider it a "national food." It is considered an Australian cultural icon and can be found in shops around the world, particularly where there are large populations of Australian expatriates. It has not been successfully marketed in other countries, apart from New Zealand, and has failed to catch on in the United States, despite being owned by U.S. food giant Kraft Foods. When seen in the United States, the Vegemite label often does not contain the Kraft logo.

My "second mother" growing up was from Australia and used to put that or Maramite on toast. I think I got used to it and liked it but now I don't remember.

I didn't post in that thread, because ALL I could think to say over there to the OP was to go blow it out their arse, and that's not very nice, so I thought I'd vent a bit here. I feel a little better now.

OK, what the hell is vegemite, exactly??? I've heard a little bit about it, I've even googled it, but I'm still confused about what the stuff really is....

Wheetsin has it exactly right.

It's salty, bitter and oh-so-yummy :)

I hate it when someone talks shit about my size. Says "good for you, you have come a long way" then says I have "That look" that she finds unattractive.

Fuck her, and her tootsie rolls. I find her attitude unattractive.

Well, I'll never talk shit about your size, since I'm shooting for that myself. I know my ticker and my sig line say differently, but I figure what the hell, it's a good starting point.

It's just taking me FOREVER to get it through my thick skull to to shut my gob and move my ass if I'm ever going to get there.

It's either in the Water, spring fever, or 2 or 3 people sharing about 275 logins. I'm not sure which... but it makes me want to cry. Not really, but really.

Can something be done about the whole "I know she thinks I am fat" bullshit?

I never said anything of the sort, whereas they have said that I am unattractive. It's kinda hypocritical actually. Funny too.

But I digress.

After a good 5km with my beloved, and a coffee, I am feeling rather mellow, and actually feel sorry for those women who have nothing better to do than try to cut others down (or up to?) to their size on the internet.

Is that shit going on AGAIN?! Where? I've not been reading many new threads lately (mostly just going to threads that I'd already posted to), so LBT has actually seemed rather boring and much tamer than it was a few months ago. I just thought all the nuts that come out during the holidays went back in their holes. Guess I managed to miss all the fireworks.

Same game, different players. Justifying ones own position by attacking someone else's.

I don't need to justify my position to anyone, I just am, and I am happy with it. I am just an easy target because I represent everything that they are not.

*Healthy (I haven't had to go to hospital for malnutrition and low potassium)

*Happy (who calls strangers unattractive for no reason? Is this something a happy person does?)

*Fit (But apparently that is an addiction transfer)

*At a healthy weight (but healthy is unattractive)

So whatever.

WTF? I would like to read that post where someone is cutting you up or down. I would tell her/him where to shove it.

chickie you rock and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I would kill to look like you. I know that no matter how hard I try, I will never get down to where I actually should be for my height, which is 110 lbs.

I will be happy at 145 and if I lose anything past that, it's just a bonus. I am stuck on another plateau, which has happened the entire time I have been banded. I have never lost weight every week, like

others, but nobody will ever hear me complaining that someone else looks skinny just because I will never be skinny.

The trying to cut me down I can live with. I understand it's their own insecurities that drive that line of attack. And I actually feel sorry for women who at 13, and 20 something years older than me who should know better than to name call. I feel sorry that they are not at peace with who they are.

It's when they say things like "I am sure she would think I am fat"

Based on what exactly? The fact that I am the size I am? Where the hell did that comment even come from? Why would I think anything of the sort. That I don't understand.

And I did have to laugh at the addiction transfer comment. I love the arm chair psychiatry. I wonder what they would think of athletes who train for hours and hours a day if my 30 to 60 minutes a day is excessive.

Humans come in all shapes, sizes and colors. And it makes the world a beautiful place to live in.

I am glad I am addicted to exercise. I get really bummed out when

anything interferes with my gym time.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
