You went flying with him and then to the beach. The next date, he's going to expect you to put out, especially since he gave you a ring.

I expect that of all my dates. And by "dates", I mean women I see in Walmart and follow home.

Random PJTP...you may now return to the ongoing saga of SMS's life - flying high with pilots, drunken booty calls, days on the beach, rings from men... my life is SOOOO dull .

Your no help tap.. Do I have to give the ring back ?It is very pretty..

You are under no obligation to return it. It's a gift. Whether you want to keep a gift given under these circumstances is the question.

That's thing I'm not sure what the circumstances are.. Like I said he wasn't even on the radar.. The only reason we went to the beach is because he lives 3 streets over and we both live close to the beach, work nights and had nothing to do that day.

Personally, I would probably give the ring back. By accepting it, I would feel like I was then under some type of obligation to him. If he is not on your radar, and someone you truly aren't interested in, then no sense giving him false hope. I would just tell him thank you very much for the ring, it is truly very pretty, but I simply cannot accept this type of gift from you.

Like Susan, I would give the ring back, but only because to me, accepting it would be akin to agreeing that there is at the very least some potential relationship...but that's me.

Lawdy, mine too! Except... Plain, was that you following me home from Walmart the other day? I warn you, there WILL be a restraining order if it continues. Unless... I like rubies. It's my birthstone.

He's not Hugh Heffner old.. I have to admit I do like the way he thinks skip the dinners and movies go straight for the bling.. You kno he did bring me candy for valentines but I really didn't think much about it..

That may be how you looked at it, but apparently he didn't since he's giving you a ring. Guys don't do that without expecting something in return, whether it be a relationship or a booty call.

In my opinion, if you keep it he will think there is something more that he can expect from you.

PTJP...

I did a kick-butt walk at work yesterday (added a big hill and some additional distance) and loved it!

I bought new pants in a smaller size and I'm loving that too! Appt with my band doc today - I think I've lost the pounds I gained before my last appointment plus a little more. We'll see what his scale says. I don't think I need more fill, I just need to work what I've got!

SMS - I would give the ring back. Even if he says it doesn't mean anything (relationship-wise) it's not the type of gift you give someone that you're NOT getting serious about / want to be serious with. Especially since he's not a teenager - jewelry means something different to different age groups. I know for my group (mid-40's) it would mean some type of commitment.

Maybe he's putting out feelers to see if you would be interested in something more defined than a work friendship?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
