I had the DS or loop done 2/17/17 I lost 110 pounds in a year. But I also didn’t exercise like I should have. But I’m very satisfied with the results. Do to the switch of the intestines we don’t absorb a lot of calories or necessary nutrients so they feel the long term success is better.

I don’t think it’s a standard to the amount of weight you lose. Every individual is different. It depends on your compliance and determination. Like they all say this is only a tool.

I hope I helped

I’ve gained back much of the weight I lost after my VSG and really I’m interested in this procedure, any additional information is truly appreciated.

I had SIPS 12/11 and was told to expect close to the bypass results. So far so good. I lost 1/2 my excess in less than 3 mos.

Took a 1/3rd out. Sips is both the stomach and the intestines

You basically had a 2 step SADi. The VSG was step 1, and the intestinal bypass was step 2.

I had the single loop (SADi DS) done in Nov 2014 and lost about 150 lbs in 10 months. The VSG takes the weight off, and the bypass keeps it off. It's lower risk and requires fewer Vitamins than a standard DS procedure. I'm not sure about any standard weight loss numbers. I lost 100% of my excess fat and it's still off in year 4.

3 months and lost 90lbs? That's amazing I'm not sure which way to go RNY or sips/mini bypass?? I need to lose 140lbs in under a year!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
