Post op sleeve questions.

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I was sleeved last Thursday, 3/8/18. Doing well with pain. I can get at least 48 oz in a day, however every time I drink I get mid epigastric pain and I either burp or hiccup after. Is this normal?? How long does it last? Is it because of the surgical swelling?

burping belches yep very normal. my doctor suggested to exhale before drinking to minimize the air swallowed.

i also walk around right after eating or drinking even if just for a minute or two it seems to help me.

there is only just so much room in there now and air that made no difference before sure does hurt now.

good luck and if the pain continues ask your surgeon about it.

I burp a lot (sleeved 2/12/18) and also get hiccups more than I ever used to. I also get up and walk around if I start feeling uncomfortable, sometimes even a sip of Water can cause discomfort but it does help to stand.

I also have a ridiculously loud tummy now. I'm hoping it will quiet down eventually. LOL

I was sleeved 3/8/18 as well and i have severe gas pains. It’s caught in my rib. I have walked and walked and walked. Taken gas x and a heating pad and nothing. Any ideas?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
