Day one of the 2 week pre-op Optifast diet is off to a bang start. Since my BMI is between 40 and 44, I get to have 4 shakes, 1 Soup, and 1 bar for the next 11 days. Then the final 3 days 1 shake gets added and no bars. I woke up already not feeling that great so it remains to be seen how the rest of the day will go. I decided to also reinstall LoseIt on my phone. There is no time like the present to get back to tracking.

You can do it. That’s better than Clear Liquids for a week. After five or six days it’s actually easier. The first few are the roughest to get through.

Stay strong!

You got this dude! Keep busy! Idle hands and the devil's playground and all. LOL! I played a sh*t ton of solitaire and hearts on my phone! The first 4 days are the most difficult, but dayum! You get a Protein Bar and a Protein soup! I could only have 3-4 drinks per day to average about 70g protein per day.

You can do it!!!! ((hugs))

What Kim said. It does get easier. When I gave up smoking years ago the first 3 days were pretty miserable. You'll get over that hump and it won't be so bad. It was the same with the liquid diet.

Hey...at least you get a bar! I would have cut someone for a packet of saltines after the first week.

You got this!

I know that it does. I did a diet like this years ago, and if memory serves me correctly, the first 4 days were the worst. I remember waking up on the 5th day not hungry at all. Things may be different now because I am a diabetic but I hope that the sensations will more or less be the same. I know that my endocrinologist pulled me off of insulin and Victoza. Victoza was making me feel so bad anyhow that I think hunger sensations will be a welcome reprieve from the constant low grade nausea.

First day down and it is really not so bad. I guess that the hunger pangs are vastly better than dealing with the side effects of Victoza and insulin. At least I don't feel nauseous which is a HUGE relief. Hunger pangs are really welcome when compared to having to put up with Victoza. Dare I say I got this!?

This may sound weird, but I’m feeling left out of the 2 week pre-op club...my Dr. doesn’t require it. I know someone who lost a lot of weight pre-op on this and it sounds like it would be motivating and set me up for post-surgery. Going to my pre-op Dr. visit this week and this is going to be my first question, why not?

(I have kinda been doing a modified version anyway, I really like the Premier Protein shakes...and have discovered PBfit which is wonderful in the chocolate shake!)

Will say a prayer for you mattymatt and all others on this journey.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
