Approx 1 year weight loss.

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Still getting all my pre op appointments out of the way. Just curious though... I know it’s different for everyone but how much weight have you lost one year post op?

Also, when did you see your weight stall in the beginning, if at all, and how long was it for? What did you do to overcome it?

Interested in hearing everyone’s story.

I started my journey at 397 with my six month pre-op diet program. I lost 99 pounds during that six months, weighing 298 on the day of surgery. I met my goal of 180 at 1 year and 4 days post-op, meaning that I had lost 217 pounds total and 118 pounds since the surgery. I lost another 7 pounds over the following few weeks and have been maintaining at 173 for several months now.

I actually went below my goal weight but I had some complications due to Strictures. I lost 132 in 6 months but I did gain up to 125#'s now I weigh 124 to 129#'s. Which I will take in a New York minute. I got to my goal and haven't lost any more. I didn't have but 1 gain when I was 6 months out. I jumped on my scales and it said I was up 1#. The next day (after I was so bummed) I lost 3#'s. I think when you are told about the Honeymoon Phase being your 1st year to 1 and 1/2 is not always the bottom line. It may get harder to loose as quickly but from seeing posts on here there are many thatkeep losing longer. Good Luck on your Journey!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
