New pain/left side/ 9 days post op

Recommended Posts

I have this pain on my left side that started yesterday. it is at the lower part of my rib cage. there is an incision where the pain is, but the pain does not have to do with the incision and feels much deeper.

it is becoming progressively worse, and i am going to call my doctor. has anyone experienced this before?

it feels like something is stuck to my rib cage underneath my ribs.

I wonder if that could be the formation of an adhesion (scar tissue inside). Sometimes those things can be very pesky when they attach themselves to parts of the body. Not sure if one would form that quickly. Your doctor would know.

I'm 10 days out now. However, on day 8 I had the same feeling. I thought maybe I'd done something bad the night before during "fun time" with my boyfriend. I just couldn't sit up straight. It seems to have gotten better today. I just don't feel right when I sit kinda hunched over. If I sit up very tall it seems to go away. Wish we had more experienced people to answer this for us.

made...i called the doc about it and he said that a lot of their patients report the same pain, but they aren't sure exactly what it is. they said it is just a "stitch" that happens about this time for a lot of their patients.

the day after typing this, i had to go home from work because it got so bad..and take pain pills. it has not come back since. i think i just needed some more rest.

That's funny, I just got back from my pre-op stuff and in the paperwork it specifically states that this may happen, in the exact area that you mentioned. It says on there to take Maalox with simethicone. I assume they think this is gas.

I was told to expect that, post op. It is called referred pain from all the manipulation that was done during the procedure. The Dr. specifically said left shoulder pain. I did not have this however, thank God.

I experienced the exact same thing.... the Dr. told me it could be my ribs are bruised or still just gas. He told me not to worry about it and that I am going to have some weird things like that happen for the first 6 weeks after surgery that I would have thought would be healed by then... he said not to worry and take 800 mg. of motrin 3x a day(you can cut it or crush it if you need to.) and that made everything better!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
