Day 4 Post-op Issues

Recommended Posts

I had RNY on 1/30. My surgeon said it was a beautiful procedure. I was up and walking two hours out of recovery and keeping Water, broth and Jello down that evening and the next morning. I went home the next day and everything remained beautiful. I had no nausea or issues with water, broth, or jello. I even had a BM the morning of day 4.

On fay 4 I introduced Protein Shakes and sugar free pudding thinned with 1% milk. I did get to the point with the pudding that I felt like I had just eaten Christmas dinner again.

I started feeling weird that day with EVERYTHING. Even just water is giving me the chills, causes my tummy to start talking to me, my side hurting (under the bigger incision on my left side), and me feeling nauseous.

I Was hoping it was just a yesterday thing but it’s happening again today (day 5 post-op).

Any ideas?

Yes. Call your doctor's emergency line and let him know what is going on.

Start writing down your temperature and heart rate hourly.

Could be anything from something simple...food sensitivity, too rapid whole Fluid introduction...

to a cold or flu...

to a leak or abscess.

Keep your doctor in the loop and get his/her advice.

I’m 3 days post op and I have quite a bit of pain on that left side too. I tried eating cream of wheat and could only get 2 bites down

I was told that people who were able to have dairy before can’t after the surgery. I was already allergic to dairy so not one of my worries but I document everything I have, I have to take my temp/pulse 4x a day for first month as part of the program.

i would for sure call your doc and keep track of things. I also had my rny on the 30th. I’m going slow to move to the different stages but because of my age I’m in no hurry to mess anything up.. I just try and remember that I just had a surgeon go in with a blender In my stomach and just need to heal.. 🤪 lol I have to go back to work on Tuesday so just plan on taking my “foods” and we have fresh water at work. I haven’t had any signs of dumping but going to take extra clothes .. just in case... 😬

i hope you are feeling better!!! Sending well wishes your way!

He said to stay on top of nausea and pain meds and go back to Clear Liquids for another day, and to slow down to one ounce every ten minutes. We’ll see if it works.

Everything is so new.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
