Liquid diet worries

Recommended Posts

I start my liquid diet next week and I'm kind of freaking out a little bit. Second guessing my decision for surgery and whether or not the Isopure zero carb will be enough to sustain me for 2 and a half weeks. I know I can't be the only one who is/has gone through this... any tips for making it through the next three weeks till surgery?

That is a long time for a liquid diet but I wish you the best. I think my liquid diet is 24-48 hours before surgery but even I am eyeballing that liquid Isopure like seriously? That is supposed to hold me? You can do this, mind over matter right?!

Not gonna sugar coat it...liquid diet was one of the toughest parts of the whole process for me. Was incredibly hard. But you can and will make it. Day three is awful. After that...you kinda give up and it gets easier.

Hi. I was on liquid diet before surgery for two weeks. I felt unsure of how it would go too. Do you have hobbies or activities you enjoy? Be ready to engage yourself in those to keep your mind occupied and your body busy. Puzzles helped me a lot. Be ready to complain to an understanding family member or friend. I was worried about my liver not being small enough and that motivated me to get through each day. When I asked my surgeon if my liver was small, she said that it was very, very small. I had an odd sense of accomplishment. lol

Fingers crossed that all goes well for you. :206_cat:

I've been on the liquid diet for about 3 weeks now. My advice is to get out of the house if you want to! I avoided going anywhere where I may be tempted to buy food or a drink and staying at home for 18 days made me very miserable. Then I managed to actually go out to a pub with my family on Water and go out shopping and actually found it wasn't too bad! Some people may find that too tempting but just putting out there what is helping for me personally. Just try to live as close to normal as you can without food xx

Omg...day three was AWFUL!! I felt like the hangriest beyotch you ever met! It really did get better after that though. Except for grocery shopping for the family on Sunday. That sucked. I recommend doing grocery pick-up if you have that option.

Today is day 8 for me and it’s actually not terrible at this point. I feel full after my “meals” and I did a weight check last night and have lost ten pounds this week! Talk about getting the motivation to make week 2 bearable!

Thank you all for the replies/support! I'm kinda more worried that the Protein Powder won't be enough to sustain me and also freaking out a little because this means the surgery is so close! I have done a juice fast before so I know I can do this, it's just gonna suck something major [emoji23][emoji28]

Anyone have some tips on things to occupy my time? My favorite hobby is photography, but I work 3rd shift and it's freezing where I'm at so I'm not too if that will keep me occupied for long...

Can video game distract enough from any hunger? I haven't played my Xbox, but plan on breaking it out with some new games to keep me distracted.

Hi, I'm actually on week 2 of a 6-week liquid diet. Day 3 was the hardest (I feel sorry for my family), but it has gotten better. I find that the Protein Drinks do fill me up.

To keep busy I play video games, look up post-op recipes, and try to prep everything that I'll need for after the surgery so that I have no concerns except for healing. When I feel myself focusing on food too much, I go and watch the videos of others that had wls and were successful. Next thing I know, 30-60 minutes have passed and the cravings are gone.

The first few days will be tough but you can do this!

There is nothing like hours of simulated violence, explosions, gunfire and Grenade bombardments to rid yourself of that hunger.....

Just in time for the final DLC of Battlefield 1.

The mental concentration on the game and tram compitition completely dispersed any hunger feelings.

I was told hello. But can have fat free yogurt, so I guess that would mean pudding is ok. But Jello is more fun.....

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
