Pre-determination denial and turnaround. Help!

Recommended Posts

Help!
So, my original date was 2/24. I received mail yesterday (pre-determination) stating denial due to insufficient documentation for co morbidity. Talked with my surgeons office this morning, it could be a coding issue combined with not sending in my BP treatment plan. The surgeon is interested in bumping up my surgery due to an cancellation to 2/5. I'm scheduled to go in for my Pre-Op class tomorrow now.
Has anyone experienced denial and a fast turn around when supporting documentation is sent back in.
The variables have me on a roller coaster ride of emotions!

Yes! I was denied by insurance a week before my surgery date, had my bag packed my work leave approved. it was going to be April 24, 2017. I was crushed!! They denied the Surgeon and the Hospital after I went through the entire program. After a lot of tears and frustration I found a hospital that was covered under my insurance and started over at a new hospital and they were fantastic! They understood that I already had all the other requirements I was able to go through the new hospital's program a little quicker then usual. So instead of an April surgery date, I didn't give up and had it done in August 9, 2017. Don't give up!! work with the Dr. office and Insurance Company. it's worth the fight.

It's probably for the best. The surgeon's office should of checked all that out before you started the process !

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
