Everyone is different as I've found I can eat anything, almost. But I read the posts and find others can't eat what I can...weird, huh?

I love bread and eat it often...but I've found light bread, like sandwich bread/sliced bread that comes in the loaves at the grocer..... I slime it up. But Subway- no problem. I can't eat McDonald's Buns though...that slimes up too.

Rice is something I enjoy but others say they can't eat it. I eat it everyday almost. Now, just a few spoon fulls as I am well restricted. Same w/the sandwiches..just a few bites and I'm done.

Sweet potatoes/yams is another thing others have said they can't eat...I love it!

No, you weren't lied to... but it will be trial and error when it comes to things you can eat, and can't.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I am totally unable to eat bread. I am able to eat croutons on salad but that's it. I have tried toast but it comes up no matter how long I chew it. At this point I am also unable to eat steak, Pasta and rice. I can eat small amounts of chicken and salad. Lately I've been living on Soup and salad. I am seeing my surgeon on Wednesday and I may ask him to remove some Fluid because I am eating very small amounts of food and I still end up getting ill. Also, I am having heartburn at times which I think may be a sign that there is too much fluid in my band. I'll see what my surgeon says this Wednesday.

I am scheduled for surgery Nov. 30. I have always LOVED hot sandwiches. I could eat bread with every meal. Reading your comments about getting to where you don't really care about bread is SO encouraging! How is Pasta and rice, if you don't mind me asking? Well thanks for all the info.

That's very true about not caring about specific foods anymore. You miss it at first, crave it, try it, barf it, and amazingly, get over it. :)

Seriously, I rarely even think about bread. Your whole way of thinking changes.

I was once a bread lover ... :) Last night for the first time since my surgery, I tried bread. I made myself a sandwich ... had a hard time getting the first half down so I gave the second half to my husband. I took my time and chewed well, didn't get any major "stuckage" but was a little uncomfortable. I learned my lesson ... no more bread for me!

I can't tolerate bread haven't been able to ever since surgery. I haven't had bread in over three years. I think it has to do with the swelling of it once in your stomach. Think about it. 3 oz pouch with a few bites of bread you have a false fullness.

I miss it but I don't really think about it much anymore.

Subway???? Ohhhh you are SO lucky!!! I LOVED Subway... maybe one day......... lol. Funny, Subway bread is thicker than McDonald's bread. Bands are quite peculiar, aren't they?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
