Has anyone else had jealous or unsupportive friends when you’ve told them about your plans for weight loss surgery?

My very best friend was actually mad at me because we are going on a cruise in August (surgery is May or June). She’s trying to lose weight and doesn’t qualify for surgery so I think that’s the underlying issue. I have stopped talking to her about my surgery because I don’t want to hear her negativity.

I’m sorry to hear that. My best friend has been through several diets with me and while I have continually failed, she has been very successful the last two years. She was the first person I told when I started considering wls. She doesn’t think I need it and thinks I’d be successful if I try what she has been doing. But even though she wouldn’t choose it for me she always supports me. I hope your friendship stays strong through your surgery. Find another person to be your support for this and try not to let it get in the way of a great friendship. Good luck and enjoy your cruise this summer!

My family and best friend have been amazing, but I have one very dear friend...who threw a negative schit fit. Really surprised me. People can be weird. I'm sure he's not jealous..lol..but he's one of those people who needs to be right and I think the surgery scared him. But yeah, he kinda blew a gasket about it and I needed to make some distance for a while. I need supportive people around me, not stubborn naysayers.

I think one of my friends is jealous. She hasn't said anything, but I just get the impression. I don't let it bother me. I did this for my health, and I don't owe her an explanation or apology. I have worked hard for what I have achieved, and as you all know, it's definitely not the easy way out that some people think it is. My attitude is that my friend can either deal with her issues, or she can move on. Either way, I'll be over here, living life. :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
