I haven't had my surgery yet, but my doc told me a Multi-Vitamin would be all I need. i'm already on Calcium and Vitamin D, so I will continue with that...after lots of research into this very question, I also saw people adding Biotin to help with the Hair loss. a lot of people take Iron, but i'm not anemic and it hasn't been recommended to me yet. at my pre-op visit i'll be asking more follow-up questions regarding Vitamins to make sure i'm getting everything I need.

Did you have any guidance from your team or nutritionist?

You should get guidance from your surgical team and nutritionist. Mine starts you out with a chewable Multivitamin - containing at least 18mg Iron and 400 mcg folic acid. Later Calcium and Vitamin d. But for amounts and how often to take them, please consult your nutritionist. Each doctor is slightly different.

Consult your nutritionist for sure.

Mine has me on:

2 Flintstones complete chewables

B-50 Complex

B-12 500mcg

D 5000 IU (I'm deficient living in the north)

2 calcium citrate with D (500mg total) TWICE a day

Whew!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
