TTC, Period Problems/Menorrhagia

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I’m a year out from gastric bypass (12/27/16)

Me and my fiancé want to start ttc, but there’s an issue.

Backstory:

I’ve been obese all my life and have struggled with my periods ever since I started (around age 12-13, I’m 30 now) I have been on birth controls before (oral & depo shot) to try to regulate my period but nothing ever happened so I quit taking it. Longest period was 9 months and longest I’ve gone without it was also 9 months.

I’ve been diagnosed with Menorrhagia (heavy & prolonged bleeding)I have been to numerous dr appointments and all have said that they don’t think I have PCOS but can’t rule that out but I did have Pap smears & a colposcopy to screen for any abnormalities, cysts, etc- all negative.

Being a year out me and my fiancé want to start ttc but I thought maybe ovulation at home tests might help me. The problem is since I never know when I’ll start or stop my period I don’t know how these will work, so I was looking for other people who might know what I’m talking about. Please, share your experiences. I’m all ears.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
