Need to pass gas - just home

My gas was horrendous and I couldn't release it. The combination of walking and mylicon drops began to help after a few hours. Its most painful in the first day or two, I'm now at day 5 and it only occurs if i take too big a sip.

Thanks!!! Glad we are doing better!

Walking is the only thing that will help move the gas around. When I came home I walked a lot only really had gas at night and mornings. Almost a month post op and it is gone.

Surgery 12/18. 8 days out. The gas was scary... I had a "loose problem" for a few days! Now it's normal but small since I am not really eating much. I went to stage II on Saturday since I was starving! That helped a lot. I have found that eating while standing up is much easier on my system. I have a 'pressure' in my stomach today. I fear I overdid today... Does anyone feel "healing" going on inside them?

Hi! 12/20 was me. Definately some pressure. Gas and normal per my doc - no pain now. I do get some pain in evening/night from the days collection of liquids in my intestines - and have had the reverse, Constipation.

I don’t stand I def sit up at table to eat tho

Yes- we are healing. I think it takes approx 4 months for full stomach healing. Go easy. Take naps.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
