I’m in month 4 and have hit a serious stall. Do you believe that the pouch reset works?

The reset is only going back to liquids soft progressing out to real food. It's that same as going back to basics. Not sure what a serious stall means? If it's not a long stall, continue working your plan. The weight will drop again.

Breaking stalls can be frustrating. A few things to try:

self evaluate what your food intake and exercise commitment is.

  • Be consistent in logging your food and hitting calorie and macros
  • Mix up your workout routine. Don't do the same exercise over and over.
  • increase the intensity of your workout

These "pouch reset" diets work on the basis that most were initially on a liquid diet after surgery and lost weight like gangbusters, so therefore if we go back to a liquid diet we will lose like gangbusters again. Sorry, but it doesn't work that way - those of us who were never on a liquid diet lost like gangbusters right after surgery, too. Liquid dieting has nothing to do with weight loss - it's just another fad diet.

It can "reset" some of the cravings induced by allowing more junk food into our diets as we progress, but that can be done with a basic meat and veg diet, too - and that provides better nutrition, and will help get you back into the basic habits that you need to sustainably control your weight.

So, ditch the reset diets, and the whatever junk has crept back into your diet and go from there.

You haven't got a pouch anyway. You have a sleeve.

People make this posts but don't say what they are eating so it's hard to help.

If you post your daily eating that would help us help you.

things to try:

Evaluate: what your food intake is . How many calories are you eating? Are you hitting your Protein and keeping your carbohydrates low? Are you logging your food?

Evaluate what your exercise commitment is.

Is there anything you need to change or are you on track with your dieticians plan?

  • Be consistent in logging your food and hitting calorie and macros
  • Mix up your workout routine. Don't do the same exercise over and over.
  • increase the intensity of your workout
  • Drink lots of water

It depends on what you think reset means. If you think it means it will "reset" your stomach to a smaller size, then no. That's a myth that needs to go away badly. If you look at it as a mental reset, then that's fine.

Stalls are normal. Spend some time searching the forum and you'll see an ungodly amount of posts on the topic. And pretty much all of them are going to suggest the same things: What's your diet look like? How much excercise are you getting? How is your Fluid intake? What's your carb intake? How long have you been in a stall?

Going back to a liquid diet and/or uber low carbs can help get things kick started again. Just forget this idea that your stomach will magically shrink in size.

I am in the same boat as you. I have hit a stall and I have fallen back into old habits. I have started drinking diet soda again, although trying to get away from it again, I am addicted to it again. I have been taking in WAY too many calories and I am not following the diet guidelines. I have been neglecting my protien intake and have introduced carbs again. Flour tortillas and bread and rice.

I do notice my sleeve feels tighter in the morning after a nights sleep. I am hoping to reel things back in and trying to make better choices. I am down 80 pounds but need to lose another 75 to hit goal weight.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
