I have lower BMI but I was band in 2009 and now needs to remove and I like to have sleeve because I can’t have any tool to help me or I go so crazy with food. Please someone give me some advise?

2 points over normal bmi ? You'd lose those 2+ points on your pre op diet.

I was sleeved because my BMI was 42. Now I’m a 26 BMI.

Height: 5'0"
Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs.
Surgery date: 2/13/17
Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs).
Current weight: 130 lbs, 10 lbs away from new goal.
My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.

It really depends upon your insurance company. If your doctor is able to convey how the band needs to be removed and your need for a tool to maintain a loss, you just may be able to get the sleeve. It's going to be really important for you to consult with your doctor and see if he/she is on board with a sleeve. You may have to jump through a few hoops, but it will be worth it if you are able to get the sleeve. By the way, I have read of people getting a revision with a low BMI if the lapband has to be removed for medical reasons.

Per her profile, the original poster is in Alabama.

I'm going to be straightforward and brutally honest...a 27.5 BMI is not obese. In fact, someone with a 27.5 BMI is about 20 to 25 pounds overweight at the most.

The original poster says she'll go crazy with food if she doesn't have a surgical weight loss tool, yet a sleeve won't stop anyone who is determined to overeat.

You can eat a whole extra large pizza with a sleeve, one slice every 30 minutes. You can eat a dozen (12) donuts with a sleeve, one donut every 30 minutes.

People have regained every single pound they've lost with a sleeve. If the self-control isn't there, nothing will stop you from overeating, not even a weight loss tool such as a sleeve.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...to answer her question, Dr. Almanza in Tijuana will probably convert her from band to sleeve. He has done low BMI people in the past.

Your right. Very right. There is no miracle surgery unfortunately .. some people don't know there is tricks around all surgeries to become bigger if they don't have some kind of control over themselves at some point.

Thank you everybody. I got the message. I hope the sleeve least let me know that I am full . I do need to remove the band after 8 years because it is complicating my esophagus , so I thought I should get something to help me with controlling my hungry.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
