I wish I had known about this forum BEFORE I started my journey ..but I am here now :) My name is Susan, I am 35 and a mom to 6 little ones - Hannah(10), Logan (9), Lance (7), Hayden (4) and my TWINkies Mason & Morgan who are 2. I was banded on October 5 of this year ..and doing well so far. .I'm down 11 pounds since the morning of surgery. My surgeon is Dr Gupta at St Vincent Bariatric Center of Excellence. It took almost 10 months from start of the process to my surgery date but worth every struggle along the way. I look forward to getting to know you all!

Hello,

Boy, You have your hands full.... I have 5 kids although they are older now. I heard St Vincent is a great place to have the surgery done. I am from Inpls and having it done at St Francis by Dr Clark.

Do you have a favorite Protein Drink and if so where did you purchase? Tell me if you will how you have learned to deal with the stress other than eating? If you would rather do a private message that is fine. Keep up the good work!!!!

Yes, St V's is AWESOME, I HIGHLY recommend their program!! As for Protein drinks ..no, I am using the milk recipe provided by the dietician's..and using lots of sugar free chocolate Syrup to make it tolerable  Stress?!? What stress?!! lol I was never a stress/emotional eater, I just like food. .so eating wasn't a coping issue for me. I just try to keep myself busy all the time now, which isn't too difficult given how busy my house always is!! Good luck to you!

I was banded on 9/19/07 and I work in Indy during the week. Things are going well so far. I had my first fill on 10/15/07. Glad to see others are doing well also.

I am from Indiana as well, north of Lafayette. I went to Indy to have my surgery. I have my first dr apt. this thursday to get a fill. I am nervous. I was banded Sept 27 and am down 14 pounds. Does anyone have any advice on the excersiseing? I am trying to walk a mile every other day, should I be doing more? Also is anyone else eating out?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
