Self Pay Troubles

Recommended Posts

The cost of my surgery included the surgeon fees, anthesiologist's fee, and medical center fees, but now I am getting a bill from the anesthesiologist for triple the amount I was told I was to pay.

Has anyone else had any problems like this?

OUCH! Hate that for you. I'd contact the office manager to see what you can get worked out. If they won't budge... I'd contact the Better Business Bureau, the attorney general's office, etc.

But make sure you have a quote in writing first. If it was verbal...I just don't know. You could try.

I have heard this with anesthesiology before, that they will include the actual persons fee, but not the products used, or use of the equipment, because they never know what you will or will not need done during a surgery.

Did you have any kind of written receipt or anything---maybe speak with your surgeon....

(sorry, my keyboard is on the fritz and I have no question mark!!)

Good Luck---and I agree, if they would not deal with me, I would be VERY vocal, and alert anyone and everyone possible of the business practices they are accepting.

I am known for telling business' like that it is a small world and I have a big mouth and intend on using it. I have written letters to the editor of local papers---stick to the honest facts, and there is little they can do.

Wish I could help---I hate being taken advantage of!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
