Gaining weight back

Recommended Posts

I would for sure talk to your doctor if you have gained 20 pounds on such small amount of intake. I would also try and increase what your eating because according to my NUT I should be around 100-1200 calories a day and not be supplementing my Protein by 1 year post op. I know every plan is different but I'm concerned your eating to little and you body is holding onto whatever it can at this point.

I've always heard that a very low calorie diet can mess up your metabolism and in the end, you will gain weight because your body is trying to hold onto as many calories as it can. I don't know how true that is, but I feel like I lose more weight when I consume 1000 calories a day versus 500 calories a day.

If that's the case why don't anorexics get fat with their low intake ? And I suppose even with us.. our intake is considered low so we would all be f***kd but I'm sure there is some kind of truth in it .. in some way

Holding on.. fine. But I have never heard of eating to little causing WEIGHT GAIN( Unless a medical issue obviously)
She remembered her crackers later on. I'm sure we have all digested something and forgot about it.. I'm not saying op is not telling the truth but if she goes to her doctors and finds nothing medically wrong. Just how she forgot to mention her bag of crackers. Is just how she could be forgetting something else.
If that makes sense ?

It does exist but not in the way most people understand it. It comes into play when your body fat % is so low that your organs start shutting down to conserve energy.

You don't go into "starvation mode" until you're actually starving. Missing a few meals or running a severe deficit while you still have plenty fat reserves won't magically conjure body mass out of the ether.

You didn't mention your snack. When you ready to be honest let us know. If your only eating that.. plus that you added then you need to see your doctor because gaining 20lbs on like 500 Cal's lol need medical attention if that's true.. How can we help you get on track if apparently your barely eating anything .
We all have the times were we have said " no idea why I'm gaining weight I barely eat anything" till someone reminds you " what about this.. what about that. " Good luck.

Don't be so rude bc if you're in this group then you had or have a weight issue so you should know how it feels...smh

Who's being rude ? I'm telling the facts unless you have a medical problem you can't gain 20lbs eating 500 or so calories I am being supportive by speaking the truth. She should see her doctor.

My point is. If she is eating nothing. How can we help her . As she can't eat any less if that is all she is eating. It's a valid question.

Truth, that's why I said if she truly gained 20 pounds on the intake she says she has she should see a doctor because that might be an underlying issue or a medication issue if she is taking any medications (some cause weight gain).

But having to low an intake can stall you per my NUT and personal experience. Not make you gain for sure, but stall nontheless, so eating to little is not going to help the situation either. If she really is eating what she says she is.

I agree - DreamingSmall you come across as really rude in every single post. I don’t know if you mean it but it’s very unhelpful and often really hurtful. You should watch the way you say things to people on here.

I think she comes across as straight talking, no nonsense helpful.

We all respond to different things. Those kinds of responses were exactly what HELPED me in my early days. So I am glad there are all kinds of responses on here.

It's a bulletin board. Short of people being overtly nasty, which she is not, we all need to learn to take what's useful to us and leave the rest! Just my humble opinion.

I agree with Jess.

  • Go back to food tracking,
  • Make sure you are getting your 64 oz of Water,
  • get back to doing your 10K steps or whatever exercise level you are at,
  • cut your carbs,
  • increase your Protein.

That's what I do when I want to really drop the lbs.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
