So I'm finally done with all of my pre-op requirements. Yay!!!!! Now, I'm just waiting for the results from my psych eval so that all of my paperwork can be submitted to insurance for approval, then I get the call with surgery dates.

Consult appointment: 6/11/2017

First Nutrition appointment: 6/11/2017

First PCP appointment for 6 month weight loss program: 6/28/2017

Endoscopy Appointment: 10/27/2017

Psych eval: 11/8/2017

Insurance: Oxford Freedom Plan

Congrats! I just finished everything, too, and my surgery date is March 14 -- ugh. I started in August, and the ladies that run the office say I need 180 days before they can submit for approval, and then they build in a month. Sigh, so depressing. I selfishly want to know if I am the only one?

No worries. March will be here before you know it.

My biggest advice to everyone is once the 180 days come. Call the insurance company to make sure all the paperwork was received and is in review. I’ve literally been having the week from hell trying to understand why I thought I’d be getting a decision this week, only to find out that my paperwork kept getting bounced back because of a discrepancy in my frickin address of all things! I originally took the advice of the surgeons office to calmly wait the two week period rather than following up once the paper were submitted and now I have to wait another two weeks to actually get an answer.

MAKE SURE YOU CALL...DO NOT BE SHY!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
