Patty’s VSG Journey

Recommended Posts

I’ve been fatty Patty my whole life. I’ve toyed with the idea of getting weight loss surgery for years but have always been really scared. Frankly, i still am, but i think it’s time. I️ don’t have major body or self esteem issues, but I’m ready to stop hearing “you’d be a knockout if you lost 100 pounds” or “you’re really pretty for a big girl.” I’m excited to start this new part of my life & to finally be that ‘knockout’ on my 30th birthday next December.

I’m 5’6, 315 and currently doing all of the pre-op appointments to [prayerfully] get a insurance approval through CareFirst Administrators. Has anyone used them? I have done the nutritional evaluation, the psych evaluation, got my PCP to write a great letter of medical necessity & had my upper endoscopy. With the exception of the really creepy psychologist, all of my doctors have been a dream. I have a sleep study scheduled for Friday.

I’m freaking out because I’m nervous as HELL that my insurance will deny me. I’m not sure why i feel that way - well, i have the worst luck in life lol, but my BMI is 50 and I’ve done all of the requirements. I don’t really have a reason to be worried other than my own craziness. And I’m really nervous about getting the surgery period. I’m just a nervous wreck. Lol!

I love reading all of your stories and can’t wait to be a contributor!

Xoxo,

P

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
