Did your surgeon give you an amount he had to lose before surgery? Mine did not. I was just put on a 10 day liquid diet.

I had to lose 5lbs before I saw him after all the preop testing, but that was the only required weight loss. I have a 2 week liquid diet (day 5 now) and I'm already down 13lbs....

Surgery date is November 7th. On the second day of liquid diet. If I can live through this, I can live through anything.

Did anyone else have horrible headaches? I'm really suffering and don't know if it's like caffeine withdrawal or just food withdrawal? It really sucks.

I am doing a three-day test run of the clear liquid diet before my egd, and I have had a headache much of the time. For me, it is likely caffeine withdrawal. I took a couple of caffeine pills, which seemed to help. I don’t do coffee, so that seemed like the best option.

Day 6: physically I feel fine..surprised because I thought this liquid diet was going to be the worst but it isn’t! I’m surviving! It’s weird because I thought I would be starving by this point but here I am, not even drinking all three of my allowed shakes!

I’m actually doing great. Tomorrow is day 8 and I’m am not hungry at all. Down about 10 pounds right now. I’m surprised but I think my body had adjusted to it. Only had the one headache. One week from tomorrow is the day and I can’t wait.

I have the same dates. Are you having to do a full 2 week liquid? From reading on this site it seems like I'm lucky, I get 1 lean/green meal a day until the day before.

My diet is 4-5 shake +2 cups of veggies.
Where are you located? I'm in NY, will have mine at Bellevue Hospital

I'm in Tyler, TX. Yeah I'm allowed up to 5 shakes, green veggies and lean meat once a day and if I need it bars from slimfast or Atkins or the like. I'm having trouble with some of the dynamics of the diet like drinking enough Water and making myself take small bites and chew until it's basically blended in my mouth like in a blender. How long is your doc predicting you'll have to stay? Mine says average 2 days.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
