I had my gastric sleeve on October 17 so I’m one weeks post-op and I can’t poop!

Even on my pre-op diet I was going to the bathroom (every few days) because I was allowed to eat salads.

Now on my post-op diet I’m just on Protein and Water and broth. I’m concerned but in reality I believe I have nothing in my digestive system to get out

Hi there,

Had my sleeve operation on the 20th. I haven't gone either. Called doc today nurse said to take milk of magnesia. I'm still in alot of pain as well but all else seems good.

I was sleeved 9/25/17. Constipation hit me at week 2. Take milk of magnesia to empty yourself out.... and take 2 stool softeners a day... that's what I am doing now

I’m exactly 1 week post-op RNY and haven’t had a BM in 8 days. Mind you I have been on Clear Liquids & Jello for 2 weeks (1 week pre-op and 1 week post-op). I don’t feel the urge or constipated however. I don’t know if there’s anything really in there to pass. Should I be worried or take milk of magnesia just in case?

Had the same problem. Metamucil, benefiber, Miralax never worked for me, even milk of magnesia. Glycerin suppositories did magic!

also, flex seeds helped even better. Take about 2 spoons of flex seeds (better raw seeds) put in about 16 oz ceramic jar and put hot boiled Water and cover. Drink up to 3 times a day when cools off. Morning doze better on empty stomach.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
