i'm almost 6 months out.

every day i have:

1 bottle of Isopure Protein Drink (40g protein)

1 individual serving package of plain fat-free Skyr yogurt

1 can of organic refried Beans

2 eggs cooked in 1/2 tbsp MCT oil

that keeps me full during the day. then i'll eat a light dinner usually of vegetables primary and fish/meat secondary.

all in all it's around 1,000 calories/day. not that i'm counting. i don't count calories nor have i ever weighed my food. i put emphasis on having zero sugar, a little bit of good carbs, as much Protein as possible, and minimizing fat but not being crazy strict about it.

i never cheat. not because i'm awesome but because i have exactly ZERO interest in fast food, sweets, or anything unhealthy.

some days my body is more hungry and i feed it. other days it's not hungry and i don't. i think that about 3 months post-op and onward, the hunger cues are very accurate and it's important to listen to them. constant overfeeding isn't good, nor is constant underfeeding. keep it varied, keep your body guessing.

i have NOT followed my doctor's advice to eat 3 square meals a day with no snacking. i eat what i described above throughout the day. i see why my surgeon's office recommends that, because it teaches those with bad eating habits to be better. but i don't have bad eating habits, never really have. to me, that schedule creates unnecessary hunger and then the desire to eat too much at meal time. i know i end up eating less overall calories doing it my way than the 3 meals/day way. but everyone is different and has to do what they feel is right and be honest with themselves.

(btw - i'm in the 80% percentile of weight loss performance for gastric bypass patients)

so you've been losing (slowly of late i'm sure) for these two years, and hit a low, and now you've started to gain?

everything i've read and been told says that after you reach your lowest weight, it IS NORMAL to gain a bit before your body settles at its long-term maintenance weight.

i wouldn't freak out if i were you, though i understand the tendency. i would focus on eating very, very cleanly. super healthy food with an emphasis on vegetables and Protein. do NOT starve yourself, go hungry, or for gods sake start something extreme like Keto. you are doing great and so far everything that's happened to you is quite normal.

I can't really share my menu because I am 4 years out but...did your surgeon give you any guidelines? It will get better as you progress. Just be careful and not overdo. Make sure you are getting enough fluids in and you are striving towards your Protein goal. Take care and I'm sure there will be others that can help you out.

I would love for you to share with me or communicate with me as I am almost 2 yrs out and I have no idea what to eat and I'm afraid I will gain it all back - I know I'm not getting enough in. HELP

First thing ==I use GENEPRO in my Espresso every morning. It has 30grams of Protein. But some on this site will say it isn't what they claim. I am terrible at eating Breakfast or lunch. dinner I have ham, cheese sandwich will 1 piece of whole grain bread. Or Chili Beans with cheese and onions. I also will have a Burrito or a XLNT Tamale, Or I have a chicken breast baked. By the time I get my protein first I don't have much room for veggies or fruit. I do have a tuna salad too. I was told by my Nutritionist and my Dr both said this to me: In time there are no forbidden foods, just eat in moderation. Not all programs say this. I am the type of person that if I didn't have a food I will become obsessed with it. I don't always make all great decisions but I try. Also, I totally feel like my exercise is my saving grace. I also have nuts or Peanut Butter crackers for a snack in the afternoon. I am not a very good example I'm sorry. I still have no appetite at all. Food does not control me now!! Thank goodness I still can't eat much beef or eggs. I pretty much eat whatever I want just smaller amounts. If you would like to do emails instead of on this site please let me know and I will give you my email address. BTW I drink 2 or 3 cups of black coffee, and I drink Lipton Green Tea (bottled) Snapple Diet Peach Tea also. Also, I failed to mention, sometimes I just have a piece of cheese with 5 crackers for dinner. If I'm not hunger I just do a little Protien.

Great post but...remember you can't eat that many OZ'S. You are just in the baby steps of your journey. That is quite a lot of food for someone at 7 weeks out. Focus on Protein and fluids and it will all come together. Have a good rest of your day.

I was thinking that too. At 7 weeks they would not let me have nuts or seeds either

Actually it is a little scary but when I do eat, it seems like I can eat more than I think I should......that is another reason why I need some example menus with amounts. I am falling into a pattern of not eating Breakfast, low on lunch and then trying to squeeze it all in at night......by having sample menus, I can get back on track like when I was only doing liquid or purees

I ate about 6 or 7 times a day. I still do about 5 at 15 months post op. But a meal is a yogurt or a tuna pouch, or an egg and 1/2 peice of fruit.< br>
Today
Oatmeal 1 serving 31g or a little over an oz
Coffee decaffeinated with Splenda

Snack
Nonfat yogurt 6oz

Lunch
Tuna pouch 2.6 oz

Snack
Cutie
5 almonds

Dinner
Egg skillet which is
1.5 egg scrambled
2 slices land o frost turkey
Cup total chopped Spinach peppers onions Tomato mushroom
All sauteed together

Will have a snack later depending on my blood sugar. It runs lows sometimes. Again I am way farther out than you but hopefully it helps.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
